Somtimes I think people are just ignorant as to the whole point of what a remaster's purpose is for. Lemme ask you something, did the remasters coming out cancel games like:
Batman Arkham Knight
The Order 1886
Uncharted 4:A thief's End
Halo 5
Sunset Overdrive
Driveclub
Forza Horizon 2
Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare
The Witcher 3
Dragon Age:inquisition
Destiny
Watchdogs
Evolve
Bloodborne
Middle Earth:Shadow of Mordor
Assassin's Creed:Unity
Far Cry 4
LBP 3
Tekken 7
Dying Light
Kingdom Hearts 3
FF XV
The Division ??
Are these games NOT coming out?? Y'all complain about remasters being a waste of money or being overpriced or whatnot but fail to realize that they aren't preventing other games from being made. They're solely for people who missed out on them, or for people who like me want to see them in all their visual splendor. Also a remaster helps out companies because the money made from these remasters can fund newer games, you know the very shyt y'all want. Games cost money.
Also don't assume that a remaster hogs up time from developers. There's devs that are specialized in porting games over to new consoles like Bluepoint Studios and some companies have teams that can knock this out quickly. It took ND a few months to get TLOU on PS4 running and it helped them because that was their first time porting that TLOU engine over to PS4 which will help them with UC4.
The point being, a remaster coming out doesn't suddenly cancel out games that could've been done. Y'all assume that because X dev is making Y remaster than that means "Oh no they can't make Z game anymore!". It don't work like that breh. What's worse is y'all complaining about remasters coming out now vs later when they will lose it's luster to current games since it'll pale in comparison by then. Why release a remaster or HD remake of a fairly recent game late in the gen when it will be among the likes of newer iterations of itself that will make it look bad?? An Uncharted trilogy remaster coming out a few months before UC4 would be excellent and help curb the time between launch. Simple, if you don't like remasters, don't buy them they're not for you.
Hell
Naughty Dog said earlier this year it has at least
two "brand-new experiences" in development, one of which is likely
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The studio's lead programmer, Jason Gregory, shared a similar sentiment with GameSpot recently, telling us developing Remastered was "
like taking a crash course in PS4."
They're working on two other games while TLOU:R was being made. That pretty much throws out this "Remasters are a waste of time!!" argument out the window.
As for indies... so what?? So you're telling me that more games that are actually good from independent developers are somehow bad because they're releasing on consoles?? It's a choice. The indie games coming out or not wouldn't have made a difference to when big titles come out.
