I will say this, I was actually dreaming about this last night (No Diddy): FSU fans are in a precarious position moving forward. For a long ass time, FSU has been run like a mom and pop store: very little monetary investment required to be a season ticket holder, minimal booster obligations, etc. The barrier to entry to be a FSU “fan” is incredibly low, so there’s no real distinction between FSU fans (people who like FSU, watch the games, might even have season tickets because they were cheap, but don’t actually invest in the program beyond that) and FSU fanatics (boosters contributors, TBE contributors, season tickets holders, traveling to Ireland, etc.). I mean, FSU has 400k living alums and 14k boosters.
I’ve seen so many people complaining about having to pay more for their tickets, having to make a capital investment now, etc. Yet, the same people want a new staff, want to compete yearly with UGA/Alabama for the top recruiting class in a sport that is now basically pay for play, and so on. Our fans, in general, are not even as fanatical as a school like Auburn when it comes to investing in the program. In turn, a lot of fans are going to get pushed out of the comfort they’ve always had with FSU. Like, imagine being a Michigan fan and thinking you should have 50 yard line seats for time immemorial because you paid $500 for the year? Yet, FSU fans are like that.
