French rapper MHD is arrested over 'gang' murder in Paris

French rapper MHD has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old man in Paris last July, local media reports.
MHD, real name Mohamed Sylla, is reportedly in custody being questioned by Paris police over the brutal 'gangland murder'.
As recently as Tuesday morning, the 24-year-old rapper posted a selfie on Instagram, showing him with a Gucci bag around his neck.

The victim, named only as Loïc K, was attacked by 'a dozen' people in the French capital's tenth arrondissement on July 6, and stabbed multiple times. He later died of his injuries.
French media reports that the murder was part of a 'gang war', and that the killing was recorded on a mobile phone.
The footage is said to show the 23-year-old being brutally assaulted and stabbed before being left in a pool of his own blood.

While the rapper's 'presence at the scene of the crime seems to have been established' it is not yet known in what way he is connected to the murder, Le Point reports.
MHD, who has 2.4million followers on Instagram, grew up in Paris' 19th arrondissement, and is part of a rap collective called 19 Réseaux.
He released his debut album in 2016 and released the follow-up, entitled 19, as recently as September last year.
He is also an ambassador for the sports brand Puma and has worked on advertising campaigns for Adidas with his friend Manchester United footballer Paul Pogba.
