Freeway Signs To Babygrande | 2dopeboyz

Arguably the most revered lyricist to ever come out of Philadelphia, Freeway, returns to his roots, once again using his powerful voice to drop gems on listeners with his highly-anticipated solo album, Diamond In The Ruff. Serving as his first official full-length album since teaming up with Jake One for the critically acclaimed 2010 project, The Stimulus Package, Diamond In The Ruff has been years in the making and is truly Freeway’s most illustrious album yet.

Ruddy Rock states, “Freeway is a legend. Philadelphia Freeway is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. From his time working with Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella to his independent releases, Freeway remains one of the most consistent artists. We’re excited to partner with him and Amir for Diamond In The Ruff.”

Best known for his distinct voice and true-to-life lyrics, Freeway continually uses his one-of-a-kind flow to narrate from an autobiographical perspective. David Amidon of PopMatters exclaims, “Freeway is one of the more unique vocalists in hip-hop…the guy’s delivery is breathtaking…beyond his words, Freeway’s rhythm is what really tells the story and attracts attention.”

Diamond In The Ruff is a truly remarkable album, with a diverse selection of songs ranging from uplifting anthems to gritty street tales. Featuring production by frequent collaborators, Jake One, Needlez and Bink!, and guest appearances from Wale, Styles P, Marsha Ambrosius, Musiq Soulchild, and more, Diamond In The Ruff is certainly Freeway’s most cohesive album to date. Diamond In The Ruff will hit retailers worldwide on November 13, 2012 via Babygrande Records.

He's in good company. If Solar is still there, hopefully they can work on some stuff.

I didn't even know Babygrande was still in business, if he was gonna stay the indy route I'm surprised he didn't stay with Rhymesayers, they did a good job with the Jake One collabo.

Everyone in this thread is right about Babygrande, Chuck Wilson is a deadbeat, owes many artists and producers tons of royalties. He also put out Hi-Tek's last album without permission, basically just using the leftovers from Hi-Teknology 2. I could go on and on...

But truth is, anything that gets a new Freeway album out is fine with me. One of my favorite rappers of the last 10 years, a true original. In an era where half the dudes out sound like this guy or that one or this one combined with that one, Free is one of a kind. If they wanna do business with a known con artist, well, that's their decision. Hope they got a decent advance cuz that's the only money they'll see out of this deal.

yea he sharked a tape of Bronze Nazareth instrumentals, had an engineer put vocals on them, and put out a 'lost tape'. it took Bronze and his crew years to get off of there

dont think many fans realize Hi Teknology 3 wasnt even a real release, Hi Tek was really upset about that shyt IIRC
