Cotto's Trainer: Golovkin Can't Do Ten Cents on PPV

Freddie Roach, who trains WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 32KOs), sees absolutely no upside in fighting WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) - at least for the moment.
After Cotto defends his title for the first time, on a tentative date of December 13th at New York's Madison Square Garden, Roach wants him to face Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 32KOs).
Cotto-Canelo is arguably the biggest fight in boxing outside of a mega-match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Roach tells BoxingScene.com that he doesn't have any fear of Cotto stepping in the ring with Golovkin, but at the same time he says the dangerous champion from Kazakhstan is not lucrative enough to fight on a pay-per-view platform.
"I want the Canelo Alvarez fight to happen. If that happens, we'll talk about Golovkin after that. We have no fear of him. He's hittable, he can punch a little bit. He's hittable and he doesn't have a great defense. He's a nice guy, a good fighter, real friendly guy and real polite. I met him a few times, he's a really nice gentleman. But boxing wise he's hittable and anyone who's like that I feel Miguel can hurt," Roach told BoxingScene.com.
"The thing is, they haven't marketed that kid well. Nobody knows who he is. On pay-per-view he can't do ten cents. Why fight a guy like that for no money? Unless he's bringing money to the table we're not going to fight him."
