I watched this in January 2023, it's good. Quiet and very well directed. It's a very indie movie. Like some shyt I see damn near alone in a theater on a Sunday.
Not at all gangster shyt. It's has some themes about rural life and friendship, racial and social differences, the nature of the rap game as a addiction, it has a lot of depth, but none of it is obvious or dramatic. Frames the rap game as something to kind of escape from and give up for a more fulfilling lifestyle.
I related to some of it, because at the most stressful points of my life when I was younger, would think I just want to move to the country and chop wood all day. Which is very similar to what Gibbs deals with here. Of course reality is not that neat or simple.
