The Room
is the paragon of the "so bad it's good" genre. It opened in 2003 to absolutely zero acclaim, and against all odds became a cult wonder; today, it can only be watched ironically, like Spice World.

If you haven't seen it, just picture an 8-year-old scripting the first five minutes of a porno and you've pretty much got the gist. Tommy Wiseau plays a banker whose best friend (Greg Sestero) is seduced by his fiancée, and the acting is invariably horrific (Watch this and try to live your life without Tommy Wiseau's voice haunting your dreams—"two is great but three is a crowd... heh heh." Just try.)

But The Room is about to get some love from Seth Rogen and James Franco, who—after talking about it for quite a while now—are producingThe Disaster Artist, a movie about the making of The Room based on the book by Tom Bissell and Sestero. In the book, the latter details the miseries and joys of working with Wiseau, the anti-savant. Dave Franco is on board to play Sestero, and Seth Rogen may star in the film as well. James Franco will play Wiseau, natch. At last, the nation's questions (namely what the fukk is this?) will be answered.
