When Nintendo finished up the Wii U early because the ps4 dominated they went out an made the Switch.
When M$ finished up the Xbox1 early because the ps4 dominated they went out and released nothing in year 1, a few games in year 2 and nothing again in year 3.

Both these companies had a headstart on this gen while sony was still dropping heat like Ghosts and TLOU2, one took advantage to the point where it might be the best selling system of all time, the other was an abysmal failure where it's fans are now coping by saying xbox tax.
