I really don't understand why folks say exclusives is a bad thing

You do understand why they say that …

The next gen of gaming will make for some interesting times. It's looking like Sony will hold a majority of the market. I can't see Xbox doing a 180. So then what? Does another hardware giant step in? Nobody can really compete with Sony in terms of design, games, or hardware.

thats kind of how it’s always been. Since Sony entered the home console market in the 90’s no one were ever able to compete with them. Every single generation side from 7 they were the clear market leader. Even when the WII seemed to be selling like crazy, the only difference between the botched ps3 generation and the glorious WII generation was 110m vs 90m units

similar to how it is with Nintendo with Handhelds. No one has ever been able to compete with them in that lane, so them leaning into that market was a natural progression for them.

Microsoft never had an area they excelled in. There was never a proper place in the market for them, they were just green sony. The one market they could have taken control of was the PC Market due to their leverage with windows and they completely dropped the ball with it.

What reason would they have to put system seller games on Xbox?

I wish I had $7k to build a PC, the only thing that makes sense at this point.

I'm still playing Indiana Jones though. And what about Avowed in February? :patrice:

I've also been enjoying all the old Splinter Cell games and GTA 4, but I can give those up.

I'm in the same boat as you but I have PS5 Pro when I traded my base PS5 in. I actually really want to trade my XSX but I'm keeping it because of backwards compatibility like Splinter Cell games, also day one GamePass like Indiana Jones and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. And, South of Midnight is coming

Xbox did have a market with the Xbox 360. Fable, Forza, Gears, Halo, Splinter Cell were all system sellers.

They dropped the ball making the same games and having no new IPs. They could still make a comeback now. The hardware is decent, gamepass is decent, controller is decent. They literally just need games. Them buying Activision was a huge mistake.:francis:

It took sony completely botching that generation for microsofts best console generation to still end up in last place. Think about that. Sony was also selling the PSP and PS2 right along side the PS3 (the PS2 sold 50 million consoles after ps3 launched, and the PSP sold 80 million)

and a lot of microsofts console sales were because they had a historic technological failure because they rushed their console out a year early. I liked the 360 more than the ps3 but a lot of people have rose tinted glasses on about the 7th generation because of the first 3 years or so.

:snoop:The Xbox One reveal did irreversible damage to the Xbox brand. Especially after the dope 360 era smh. Phil was right the Xbox One generation was the worst generation to lose. We need competition and Microsoft lowkey dropping out isn’t good.

Phil could have turned it around. :manny: Instead he chose to try and be remembered more than his predecessor for all the wrong reasons.

A Year ago gamepass wasn't sustainable.

2 years ago Xbox ain't have any games worth playing.

Now they waiting on Xbox games more than PS games :mjlol:

The only thing really all jokes aside that would keep people on Xbox at this point is controller, Game pass and maybe a sunken cost feeling of spending money and building a profile over the years. I switched primarily from Xbox to Playstation back in 2010 and never looked back. Prior to that I was mainly gaming on 360.

Jokes aside, I like gaming on Series X. Quick resume, the controller, backwards compatibility, and Gamepass are enough to keep me around.

I don't think sales is a telltale indicator of success. Xbox 360 didn't do good as PS, but it was still pretty successful and they had a lot of momentum going into the next generation.
