DDP the real peoples championFormer WCW star Glacier (Ray Lloyd) joined the IN THE ROOM podcast this past Tuesday, November 10, 2015, with Brady Hicks, former WCW wrestler The Stro, and Kathie Fitzpatrick. This show can be downloaded at vocnation.com. Here are some highlights of what he said about:
Getting Lou Thesz’ Blessing: "He finally said to me – I’ll never forget exactly how he said it to me. He said, ‘Ray, professional wrestling is probably never going to get back to the way you and I want it to be … This is the evolution of the business. It’s okay. Go make your money.’"
Competition in WCW: "No one was doing me any favors. [Diamond Dallas] Page went to bat for me and yeah, that was great. But we had to prove ourselves every single night. Unless you were Hogan or Savage or somebody like that, everybody’s job was on the chopping block. It didn’t matter how good you were, there were a thousand guys waiting to take your spot."
His Relationship with Dusty Rhodes: "During the Turnbuckle era, I actually got married and I asked Dusty to be the groomsman at my wedding, and he said yes, thank God. And at my rehearsal dinner, I got really choked up saying [this] because it was so hard—it was just so surreal having him there. I just told him in front of everybody, it’s so rare when anyone gets to meet their childhood hero, much less get to the relationship that I had with Dusty … Thank God I got to know him on that personal level … He impacted so many people and I feel so unbelievably lucky to be one of the people that he impacted along the way."

looks like sasha might get her chanceAfter joining the tour in progress due to the fact that she was on the sidelines with what has been described as "nagging injuries," former WWE Divas Champion Nikki Bella left the WWE U.K. tour early this week to take her grandmother to London and Paris for her 83rd birthday. As it turns out, Brie Bella joined the two, so it appears that she is taking off the last leg of the current WWE overseas tour as well.
Hulk Hogan was recently interviewed by Radio Yorkshire to promote his upcoming one-man show in the UK. The WWE Hall of Famer, who famously turned heel in 1996 with the NWO, was asked if he thought John Cena could pull off a major heel turn of his own. Here's what Hulk had to say:
“Yeah, I mean, God, I hate to keep saying it, “Never say never.” With Vince McMahon’s machine and the WWE and the writers and John Cena’s talents. With his talent alone, if he were to turn heel and WWE let him go, let John go and pull that edge out of John. Ooh boy, he’d be a good heel!”
You can listen to the interview here.
Hulk will be doing an "uncensored Q&A session" at the Sheffield Arena on November 14th. Tickets are available here and range from £38.50 to £71.50.
