Former offensive tackle Kwame Harris, who played six seasons in the NFL with the 49ers and Raiders, was due in court Monday for a pretrial conference on charges he assaulted a former boyfriend.

The incident, which is alleged to have happened in August, resulted in Harris being arrested and charged with felony domestic violence causing bodily injury and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury according to the San Mateo Daily Journal.

The alleged incident took place on Aug. 21 after an argument over soy sauce and underwear, the newspaper reported. :merchant:

The 30-year-old Harris has pleaded not guilty.

According to the Daily Journal, Harris' former partner, Dimirti Geier, is suing Harris for “assault, battery, false imprisonment, negligence and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.”

Harris and Geier had been romantically involved, but were no longer involved at the time they met at a Bay Area restaurant, according to the Daily Journal.

Harris was supposed to drive Geier to the airport, but he allegedly got upset when Geier poured soy sauce on a plate of rice. Harris decided not to give Geier a ride; Geier would take a cab.

But according to Geier's lawsuit, the two argued when Geier tried to take his luggage from Harris' vehicle, Harris allegedly tried to pull down Geier's pants and accused him of stealing his underwear.

More from the Daily Journal:

Geier unsuccessfully tried pushing Harris away but the bigger man shook him violently and punched him in the arms, the suit states.

Police reports list Harris as 6-7 inches and 240 pounds while Geier is 6-1 inch and 220, Guidotti said.

Geier allegedly hit Harris three times in the face but Harris “seemed only to grow more agitated” and punched him in the face several times until he fell, the suit states.

Harris allegedly threw Geier's property from the car and left while Geier hailed a cab and was taken to an emergency room in San Jose.

Geier said he ended up undergoing surgery to repair broken orbital bones and to insert a metal plate.

If convicted, Harris could face up to seven years in prison.
