I would love to know the real reason he switched political teams. It can't be the stated reason of the Dem Party becoming unwelcoming to Southern Democrats.
There had to be something personal...probably felt like he got snubbed for the AG gig in favor of Holder.

You can never really trust these guys who all of a sudden switch parties...most of the time it's for self preservation...however there are legitmate times when people switch philosophies...Reagan was a liberal democrat at one point until he started paying attention to the communist movement that was trying to overtake Hollywood(they eventually did though) and lots of democrats became republicans during the Reagan era because Jimmy Carter was so bad
