How did y'all get started? Was it something you wanted to do all life or it was a second option? I'm currently going for business/psychology, but IT interests me. The thing is I have no idea about the shyt...is it something you can just pick up or am I basically fukked?

shyt is easy bruh. If you can use a pc and setup email and social networking sites, you can became an IT. Depending on where you're located, I'd say Security + is the most sought after cert right now. You almost have to have it.

I've been in IT since 99. My advice is to master something, don't be well rounded in IT. Well rounded in IT is working at the helpdesk. You want to learn, VMware, Linux, Sharepoint or do Network Security.

I suggest you look through that thread...lots of good info. Just about all of the IT cats on the site have posted in it at some point or another.

The other thing is to get a security clearance if you can. That shyt is straight $$$$$. A top secret clearance & an S+cert will have white folks looking at a gneeguh like
