I'd like to read thoughts from my fellow comic book heads. Posts can be lost in the main thread and I'd like to read what my fellow geeks have to say in a thread on it's own.

Mods, I hope you will consider leaving this thread open.

EDIT:

Here are my thoughts:
Let me start off by saying this is my thought on first view. I plan on buying the BR and my opinion has changed in the past after watching it at home.

I was unimpressed. Despite all the bad, negative shyt this movie had, and there was A LOT, I can't hate it. In the end of the day I appreciate this movie, but got damn it could of been done WAY better. The best way to describe it was a rocky road, but mostly rocky instead of smooth. I can't say I'm disappointed by it is because I had no expectations going in.

The fan boy in me gives this movie a C, but as a film critic it gets a D. I hope the extended cut makes it come off better than the final version. DC had a home run, but it curved and hit the foul side of the pole.

-Doomsday was such a wasted talent. It was poor how they just used a brute carbon copy of the first villain (Zod) in this film. Giving DD heat vision and flying capabilities? :what: Yes, I know he's part kryptonite, but he also had human DNA in him. They should of just did Bizarro instead because that was how he was somewhat made. And those baby bones. :comeon:

-Ben Affleck did well. Wasn't the best Batman/Bruce, but he did hold his own. He's definitely in the top 3.

-Health Joker Lex. :beli:

-How they had such a HUGE moment in the explosion and pretty much didn't capitalize on it much after it happened. Something like that doesn't just get pushed to the side. :comeon:

-The POOR execution of Batman and Superman coming together. They waste time fighting when Supes' mother's life is on the line. Bad writing.

-Scrawny Flash. And did they give homeboy a wig piece over his head gear in the Knightmare scene? :dwillhuh:

-Pacing and editing were :trash:. I thought the first act was solid, but somewhere in act 2 it seemed to fall apart.

-Jeremy Irons was dope. Dude is a damn good actor so I knew he couldn't fail.

-The last "death" was forced and unnecessary.

These are just the things I remembered the most. Even though this movie will make bank, I hope DC/WB really takes in the negatives about this and fixes it in the future.

I got chills when they showed the Trinity standing, but got damn I fukkin hate Hollywood when they do shyt like this:

"A normal man standing next to a god and goddess? :ohhh: GIVE HIM A GUN DAMMIT! :damn:"

If they just had Batman standing like a boss it would of been more :wow:

It's fukkin' Batman. :stopitslime:

Here is the review I posted in the other threads already:

The Good:
I liked the script; you could see that Terrio was trying to say something about the realities of how the real world would react to having superheroes dropped in the middle of it. Most of the public's reactins rang true to me.

The movie looked amazing and the action was cool. This really did look like a graphic novel come to life in the big action set pieces.

The way Snyder fit in all of the other Justice League members was unobtrusive and had me nerding out. Was also pleasantly surprised that Joe Morton was cast as Cyborg's dad. All the fears about there being too many characters were unfounded.

The casting was a lesson in defying kneejerk low expectations. Gal Gadot was great and shined in all of her scenes which has me excited for her solo movie.
Eisenberg was giving extra "Eisenberginess" and while he wasn't my idea of what the perfect Lex Luthor would be he was good in the role especially as he got more and more deranged.
Ben Affleck was awesome and delivered a perfectly fine Bruce Wayne which I had no doubts about since most of the past actors cast in the role were also able to embody Wayne very well. It was as Batman that I think Affleck really worked for me. Most of the past movie Batmen were not very distinctive once they put on the cape and cowl and always felt like they were Bruce Wayne in disguise. Affleck was Batman first and Wayne was the real secret identity which is always how I prefer my Batman.

And amazingly I actually saw romantic chemistry between Lois and Clark which was not the best crafted relationship in MOS.

And the score was :blessed:...the WW/Doomsday theme especially had me ready to pick a fight in the movie theater it was so hyped.

The Bad:
I am kinda sick of mopey, self-doubting Superman. That character trait should have been left in MOS.

There was an awful lot of dream sequences/visions for one movie.

Wasn't a big fan of Doomsday...not his creation or his insertion into the movie. The Trinity vs Doomsday fight was fun but I am pretty :beli: on Doomsday the character.

As a longtime comic book/super-hero nerd I picked up on all of the stuff that we got in Batman's vision of the totalitarian future and I geeked out at the sight of that giant Omega symbol emblazoned on the ground, Parademons flying all over the place and The Flash from the future showing up. But if you aren't a comic head that stuff went right over your head and probably confused the fukk out of you. A little bit more foreshadowing of Darkseid would have helped.
In the same vein, Luthor's ranting from his prison cell would have worked better if we had been shown him finding out about intergalactic threats like Apokolips and Brainiac while he had control of the Kryptonian ship. Because it felt like Lex knew a lot of really important details that weren't shared with the class.

Superman "dying" at the end was a clunky and unnecessary decision. We all know he isn't dead and all it does is create a situation where time will have to be wasted explaining his resurrection. And it effectively kills Clark Kent as a character which is not a smart move either because you can't have him just crawl out of his grave like its nothing after the funeral and open casket.

Final Verdict: BvS is an ambitious movie that I credit a lot for its ambition even if it didn't reach its goals 100% of the time because the parts that were good were really, really good and for someone who has imagined seeing these characters on the big screen together for a very long time I found it to be a really enjoyable flick that sets up the next phase (the forming of the Justice League) pretty well.

Grade: B+

Copied from another thread, my review and I am a die hard DC/comic book fan, know the characters inside and out. My final rating was 2/5.
Affleck killed it as Wayne/Batman, but he didn't show up in costume till like over an hour into the film, shyt felt like Dark Knight Rises all over again :francis:

Wonder Woman was cool and all, but she had like 5 minutes of screentime :upsetfavre:

Doomsday looked like ass, what happened to the spikes, fukking BS, felt like yelling out "They have a cave troll" when he showed up :mjlol:

Whole Doomsday fight was shyt, lasted like 10 minutes and it was just boring, Hack Snyder can do better :skip:

The Batman/Superman fight was like 5 minutes and sucked as well, 100 minute build up for that crap :beli:

Eisnesberg as Lex was just :scust:

Hack Snyder just can't do pacing, the pacing and the scenes were all over the shop, no flow or anything, just a bunch of scenes randomly thrown together :why:

Lois Lane needs to fukking die, she always shows up and has to stick her face into everything, cool Doomsday action Lois pops into to bore us, bit more cool action oh there's Lois going for a swim again etc etc, reminded me of Dark Knight Rises and the kids on the bus:snoop:

Superman was boring as fukk, hardly spoke, no facial expressions, more wooden than a WWE table :shaq2:

No humor, like literally chuckled 2-3 times, that's it, come on, the animated films have plenty of humor in and most fans love those :dahell:

And it was dull, the whole film was just boring, even during the end when it was meant to be "COOL ACTION", I was bored and kept checking the time, the fights just sucked ass and I had no reason to care for any of the characters cause the writing is so bad, shyt was so boring and dull :russell:

30% is accurate, and I can't believe there are nikkas on here who actually liked this shyt and are giving it 8/10 and shyt, I've watched it twice now and it sucked ass both times, Snyder needs to :camby: Otherwise the JL movies are in serious trouble :stopitslime:

Also, 95% is set at night, struggled to see shyt half of the time :upsetfavre:

My review :yeshrug:

The first time Affleck showed up in costume was when he saved them Asian sex slaves and that less than an hour into it.

Didn't like how dumbed down Batman was. The intelligence and omniscience that Lex had should have been applied to Batman, the things that Lex was doing/did (Metahuman research, knowing who Superman really is etc) should have been given to Batman. Just another brutish dummy here like Nolan/Bale's.

Yep, considering the action didn't start until like 100 minutes into the film, there was very, very little character development and most of the scenes were just threw together randomly. :beli:

I've seen the movie twice already, and plan on seeing it again, that should let you know what I think lol......to go into detail:

after the first viewing, I thought it was good to very good.....and since I liked it, I wanted to see it again to pay more attention to the lil details in the acting, dialogue, character specific shyt, etc....after doing that, I can say this movie is fukking amazing....the lil details zack and co put into this movie is unreal....

the thing is: I think it's gonna go unnoticed by a lot if they only see the movie once, cause they are going into the movie with what they want to see in their head and wanting mostly action (look at posts in this thread)...which is understandable cause it is a VS movie...and while the movie does action and a lot of VS, the VS isn't physical, it's more about philosophies/thinking, which the movie presents great....but that's not the VS people going into it to see...

Lex and Doomsday was "ehh", but other than that and a bit of editing problems, the movie is straight and doesn't deserve to hate I've been seeing on the internet

Upon second viewing, it went from C/D to a B+ for me, I thought it was pretty dope as I was a fan of the Animated Series and comics in general since the 90s. The vision Bruce had of the Darkseid reign of terror was perfect, but you had to be deep into comic lore to understand it, so the passive/1st-timer wouldn't get it when watching the film.

We've not really witnessed the battle-hardened Batman before and I think Afleck performed admirably. The action sequences were amazing and the main event was how I expected it to go down, Batman w/Prep time >>> Kryptonian Strength it would seem.

I thought Wonder Woman's introduction was done fairly well and as expected held her own with the start of the League.

Snyder tried to make the action too epic and the rest of it too meaningful. At how long the movie was it could have felt like a lot more got done. 6/10 and this is coming from someone who wanted to love it. It looks like both Lex and Batman have been getting visions from Darkseid. IDK Hopefully they change directors. I like Zack but clearly it isn't working for him.

Alright just got back from the theater and here's some quick thoughts The editing and pacing were inconsistent at times you really had to pay attention throughout the movie. Batman in this flick brehs :lawd: Imma need that Red Hood adaptation with Ben writing and directing ASAP :damn:. I enjoyed Lex quite a bit even though it is quite the departure from classic interpretations until the end. Superman was solid even though his dialogue was :dahell: at points. Wonder Woman :patrice: she looked great but some of her line delievery was off but I look forward to her movie. I'd give it a 7/10 I thought the biggest problem with it was the amount of content crammed into it specifically the Justice League stuff could've been set up more organically but I will say the flash warning Bruce about the future scene was the perfect mix of :damn::ohhh::mindblown::leon: guess that means they're setting up FlashPoint or Injustice :gladbron::jbhmm:

Cross Post from Main Thread and Spoilers one

I may see this movie tomorrow for analysis.

shyt was trash

im a comics fan but not a fanboy. i dont bust a nut just off seeing supes and batman on the screen together. if you're gonna go to the trouble of putting these characters on screen and acted out by professional actors the shyt needs to have some level of sophistication. you cant be insulting peoples intelligence.

D+

zack snyder needs to go if they are even gonna consider continuing this franchise

they might as well just scrap the whole thing and start over before it goes too far
