FLOYD MAYWEATHER DISCUSSES HIS FUTURE PLANS AND MUCH MORE: "I CAN FIGHT WHOEVER I WANT TO FIGHT"By Ben Thompson | September 19, 2014

BT: Champ, during the post-fight press conference, it sounded like you were thinking about maybe taking a little break. Are you still planning on fighting next May?

FM: Yes, I plan on fighting in May.

BT: Oscar De La Hoya isn't going to be too happy to hear that. According to him, Canelo wants him to secure that Cinco de Mayo date for his next fight.

FM: I mean, Canelo can fight on that date. He can fight in Mexico on that date.

BT: (Laughing) No doubt. I know it's way too early to ask about potential opponents, but have you and your team even bothered to look ahead at some of the names that might be in the running?

FM: Nah. I mean, I'm fighting whoever I want to fight, and that's the truth. I feel like after 18 years and 47 victories out of 47 fights, I can fight whoever I want to fight.

BT: I know you commented briefly on it at the post-fight press conference, but did you ever get a chance to hear the comments made by Amir Khan?

FM: No. I mean, he still got Danny Garcia problems. And there's another guy over in the UK.

BT: Kell Brook?

FM: No. Not Kell Brook. Kell Brook is a good, little fighter. I was impressed. I'm talking about another guy that slept Amir Khan.

BT: Oh, Breidis Prescott.

FM: Yeah.

BT: Both of those guys, Amir and Kell, are British fighters. That said, Kell Brook is undefeated and has the IBF welterweight title. Hypothetically speaking, if you were deciding between those two names, do you think Brook might be a better option based on the fact that he does have a title and is undefeated?

FM: Like I said when you asked a few questions back, I'm not really thinking about any opponent right now.

BT: Fair enough. So what is next for Floyd Mayweather? I take it you'll be going on another victory tour.

FM: Actually, I think I'm going to Paris, France for Fashion Week. You know, we got Ricki Brazil's hot female clothing line at www.rickibrazil.com. His clothing line is unbelievable. It's so crazy that he's my childhood friend. And my daughter's mother is working on her second store, and we got the Bad Medina makeup line coming. I'm ready to get on all these ventures and everybody that's behind the scenes to find out what's going on. As of right now, I'm really trying to focus on the Bad Medina makeup line because it's been taking a while now. I want to apologize to everyone that it's taking so long, but it'll be here soon. Of course, you got to keep them waiting a little because we only want to give people a great product, but I'm trying to find out what's going on with her makeup line because this is very important to her and it's very, very important to me. I'm also working on more real estate; just a lot of different things.

BT: It sounds like you're starting to get a lot more hands-on with some of the things you were expecting others to take care of.

FM: Yes! It's a lot to be hands on. You know, you got The Money Team, you got the Bad Medina makeup line, but I only want the best for her and everyone else.

BT: You do a lot to help the people around you, both female and male. Is it a little insulting to you when people make assumptions about you and your relationships with the women they see around you?

FM: A lot of times, people see me on television and it's crazy. You know, me, myself, I have all types of friends from all walks of life, all nationalities, all different races. I have gay friends also. What's crazy is this, you look at Hugh Heffner, right? People praise and they love Hugh Heffner. I live no differently than Hugh Heffner, but then people are extremely upset about it. But then I say I think Hugh Heffner's a cool guy, you know, but I live no different from him and it's a bad thing, but he can live like that and they praise him and respect him for it. I'm not married. You never heard me say I was sleeping with 1,000 women. The only thing people ever see is just me around a lot of attractive females, so they automatically assume something. No one has ever seen me come on TV or come out the pocket and say, "I'm with this girl, I'm with that girl, I'm with this girl, I'm with that girl." I may walk the red carpet with them once. What's that mean? On the first All Access, I may be sitting next to one woman. On the next All Access, I'm going to be sitting next to another woman. Does that mean we're an item? That's all I'm saying. I like to keep them guessing.

BT: Speaking of keeping them guessing, do you think it's getting more difficult to top yourself for each and every fight, whether that be the All Access episodes, the performances at the weigh-ins, or the ring walks?

FM: I think we're still going outside the box. We're taking chances. We're rolling the dice. That's one of the creative things that we bring to the table. As far as with All Access, I think the first All Access was good, but as they kept going, they started to go downhill instead of uphill. When you give them a fire show like the first All Access, you gotta come back and give them another fire show, then come back and give them another fire show, and then one more fire show.

BT: Why do you think that the episodes went downhill? Were you involved in the decision-making process when the episodes were put together?

FM: See, this is what goes on. The Money Team, we sell a lifestyle. I've asked them time and time again sometimes, so now, for the next All Access, the editing team has to come to Las Vegas because a lot of times, we tell them to do certain things and to show certain things and they show what they want to show instead of showing what we tell them to show. Last time I checked, I was the Executive Producer. But Stephen Espinoza is a great guy. It's the editing team that do what they want to do sometimes, but what I'm trying to tell them is this, people don't want to see the same thing over and over again. They want to see things that's different. I believe in showing them different parts of us. I don't want them to think we're just one-dimensional. In the boxing ring, we're not one-dimensional. We beat every fighter in a different way. It's like what we're doing right now in this interview; we're talking about something totally different. Some people are going to be extremely shocked, but it is what it is.

BT: Champ, we've been on for nearly an hour now, so let me just wrap this up with one last question. I know you're winding your career down now. I asked you this several fights ago and I'm just wondering if your answer has changed. Is boxing still for fun?

FM: Ummm, it's okay. I don't know. I don't even know, Ben.

Floyd be like....Amir Khan:ufdup:

Floyd uses this excuse for everyone though. Funny how Maidana didn't still have Devon Alexander or Andrei Kremlin problems though:sas2:

Amir's mouth has pissed off Floyd. Do I think they will fight? Yes. But I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen. Why give money to some fukk nikka who keeps coming out of pocket about you? I can see the rationale. Me, personally? I'd fukk his ass up!

Being honest i'd much rather see Kell Brook vs Floyd in the UK instead of Floyd vs Amir. I think if he does fight Amir though we'd get a more offensive version of floyd.

Damn, he called Brook a "good, little fighter". :russ:

I don't even know where Floyd goes in May. Can't wait to see what he chooses to do tho.

And I think it's apparent by now that he's almost fighting this frequently against his will & more so due to obligations with the Showtime deal. I wonder how much influence Showtime had in him fighting Maidana a 2nd time.

I'd rather see Khan-Brook simply due to the domestic bad blood there between the two men... much more interesting match IMO. Winner (as long as it's convincing) can easily face Mayweather September '15

Mayweather bout to have these Pac-Man/One-Time problems in May :ohlawd:

Brolic... Alcoholics
shyt fights
But he won tho.

I try not to get into a fighter's resume, mainly becuz as a person who actually fought, I sucked, compared to D level or lower level professional fighters. :heh:

I try to give every fighter their credit. Very hard for me to pull out the "Who has he fought" card... Unless it's painfully obvious they're skating.
