The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) said it responded to the scene at around 10 p.m. at an apartment located within the city of Lake Worth Beach. Upon arrival, deputies found the living room of the apartment covered in blood, with streaks leading into the bed of the apartment.

A male was seen lying on his back bleeding heavily and holding a towel on the top of his head, deputies say in an arrest affidavit.

The Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) arrived on the scene to take the man to St. Mary's Hospital as a trauma alert.

The victim told deputies that he was in town from Arizona working as a CT technician. He said he went out for drinks with a coworker, Dimmig's wife, and the two later went back to his Airbnb at 820 South Federal Highway.

The arrest report reads the victim was in bed with Dimmig's wife when he heard the front door of the residence open. The victim said he got up to see who it was when all of a sudden he saw Dimmig charging at him with a bat.

The victim said he was pinned to the ground and Dimmig hit him three times with the baseball bat.

The report says Dimmig's wife pulled him off the victim. The victim said he remembers being told "Don't ever go near my wife again."

The investigator on scene asked the victim what he thought would've happened if Dimmig's wife hadn't intervened, to which he said he thought the victim would've beaten him to death.

"I felt like he was out to kill me," the victim told deputies, in the arrest report.

After speaking to the victim, the investigator relocated to Dimmig's residence where he was seen loading the trunk of his black Hyundai Accent with two garbage bags of clothes.

The arrest report says video obtained by the Airbnb property owned showed at around 11:57 p.m. Dimmig could be seen walking into the residence holding a bat.

The report says moments later a female inside the residence could be heard screaming, "John! Stop! He's bleeding!"

In another video time-stamped at 11:58 p.m., a male can be heard screaming, "Piece of s***! F***** you."

The arrest report says Dimmig's wife signed a consent search form where deputies found a black aluminum bat inside the laundry room, and a black ripped t-shirt, and a white tank top undershirt that appeared to have blood on it.

When investigators spoke to Dimmig he told them he was home all day, other than briefly going to Publix located at the intersection of Northlake Boulevard and U.S. Highway 1. He further said, that he had a bat that he kept in the closet for self-defense or hitting baseballs or soccer balls.

Dimmig also said he had never struck anyone with a bat, the report reads.

Through further investigation, police were able to identify Dimmig's car near the scene of the crime.
