The first week sales are in for the deluxe edition of Lil Wayne‘s latest album, Funeral.

According to Rolling Stone, the project moved a total of 8.9k units since it was released last week (May 29th) with sales being at just 389.

Unfortunately, this means Funeral Deluxe has the lowest first week sales out of all of Wayne‘s previous albums. The total sales are currently at 347k and those numbers will need to reach 500k before it can be certified Gold!

Just like c5, they didn't capitalize on the popular songs

I do it needed a video.

Other than that, promotion is just lacking for this album. They dropped it and that was it.

Deluxe edition was announced during YM radio and the new songs aren't hits anyways.

Those are decent numbers for someone who’s been releasing albums for 21 years (since his first solo joint)

Y’all taking like this dude is still supposed to move 600k first week

Those days are over; nobody in Hip-Hop gives you that anymore except Drake

even Jay and Kanye did just 250k with their last projects

Loved most of the new songs. Russian Roulette was nasty and the song with uzi was spectacular

I did not even know there was a deluxe version of Funeral. I only bought the original version.

Carter 5 did 500k, Cole does 500k, Kendrick does 6-700k, Jay released his shyt on Tidal only for streaming, Post Malone does 500k, Uzi vert did 300k, Eminem 3-500k. And then some others at 200k something.

People can still do numbers, but yea with streaming it might rather be so that your shyt accumulates for a longer period instead.

I will never claim that clown Post as Hip-Hop. Cole did 400k, but that was 2 years ago. Same with Carter 5. Kendrick was 3 years ago; but I expect him do that again on his next one.

It’s just foolish to use album sales as an argument in 2020. Especially in the Hip-Hop genre. Even Taylor Swift doing 800k these days; she used to be at 1.3 million first week

She used to be hotter too.

And a 30% reduction would put Wayne at 700k not 130k if you are using Taylor Swift as an example. You might as well say Uzi did 130k now 300k.

Point is, there's a lot of people who still do big numbers, not a million plus but a couple 100k. Wayne doing 130k outside of his Carter series is not very far from what he has been doing.

Carter 5 was at 480k, so that’s even a bigger drop than 30%.

Uzi is a new artist relatively; if albums still sold like that, his numbers would be much higher, bad example breh. And 300k is not 600k (which was my original point)

Funeral was weird shyt too; is it even an album?

Can’t be mad at that... the deluxe edition had no promotion

I’ll be glad when Wayne starts sequencing his own albums again instead of recording 100s of songs throughout the years and letting Mack Maine pick his favorite 18 for a release... the production sounds dated. Carter V got a pass cuz it was pushed back so much but Wayne can drop when ever he wants now

Never understood the point of a "Deluxe" album a few months after the original drops.

Financial question?!

So if Jay and Ye sold around 250k which at $3 each album is like $750,000 profit. Minus $200,000 marketing is $550,000 profit roughly - which is prolly more profit.

How do brand new rappers supposedly own $500,000 chains, cars, and designer clothes?

In 2020 are all those things still rented?
Are any of those things owned?

Maybe someone can break the math down better than me. Holla!
