Anthony John was a black Angolan held as an indentured servant by a merchant in the Colony of Virginia in 1620, but later freed to become a successful hemp farmer and property owner. Notably, he was the first true slave owner—that is, the first to hold a black African servant as a slave in the mainland American colonies. Upon his death in 1670, his property passed to his children who later lost the land for the non payment of taxes.

What CACs like to to try to get you to believe is that Blacks were slaveowners. In reality, they were buying their people out of bondage.

Its not surprising. The guy lived as an indentured servant for years and when he was free, he continued the practice with his own workers. What makes this fukked up is that he used John Casor as an indentured servant past his service date, meaning he should have set Casor free after his terms of service had been contractually met. They went to the courts and they ruled that he would be returned to Johnson. The guy was no better than the white slavers of the era.
