The more things change the more they stay the same. David Gordon Green continues to jump wildly from one picture to another, and after the upcoming true story drama “Stronger,” he’s diving into the remake of “Halloween.” And while his will be a fresh voice for the franchise, the new movie will have a very familiar face.
Jamie Lee Curtis is reprising her role as Laurie Strode in the eponymous movie. In case you forgot, the horror flick, which will be co-written by Green and his longtime bud and collaborator Danny McBride, will essentially pickup from “Halloween II,” which will allow the duo to put their own stamp on the series.
“… it’s not a remake. It’s actually, it’s gonna continue the story of Michael Myers in a really grounded way. And for our mythology, we’re focusing mainly in the first two movies and what that sets up and then where the story can go from there,” McBride said earlier this year. Here’s the official logline:
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
And now, with John Carpenter, who is producing the picture, possibly returning to score it as well, it sounds like this new “Halloween” is going to balance mixing the new with the old.
“Halloween” arrives on October 19, 2018.
