First Attempt at Chiptune

Always loved my gameboy back in the day and been a fan of 8-bit music.

Decided to make something this morning.

Admittedly I did it quickly and without much time to consider it's quality.

But fukk it



I'm gonna try to make a whole game's worth of music and shop it as a soundtrack

This sounds much better than my first chiptune track. haha.

Pretty much one word to help you on your way: Arpeggios. These things almost define chiptune. just listen to this compilation.



I couldn't find a single song that didn't use them in some way. Could be the background chords, the melody, or just to add some background noise, but you NEED arpeggios.

I actually made a fair amount of chiptune (on my other SC) getting a spot on some youtube blog thing for this track:

Don't wanna sound facetious but this took me like 10-15 minutes.

In Logic Pro you can use the typing keyboard as your MIDI keyboard. just fukked around and played 3 different 4 bar structures and bounced it.

I've been a producer for a long time though so sometimes things just happen quickly

Same with fl studio. I've used it a couple of times, but always find myself going to a midi keyboard.

I think the shortest its taken me to make something that was good was 30 minutes.

How long have you been producing?
