All I know for Hindus, especially the fresh ones, has more to do with caste system that they have in their religion. The darker your skin, the lower you are and for some reason the darkest ones can be the most racist.

The 2nd/3rd generation is more understanding but I’d take it case by case.

My years with Indians, they only understand authority or aggression. If you are a calm individual they might take the piss.
