If you watched Django Unchained closely you'll have noticed that the only reason he was able to go from docile slave to cac killer in 5 seconds was because he was handed a letter by the Federal government loaning him power to kill cacs, aka, he was still the same slave, just to a more powerful master. Implying that it is IMPOSSIBLE to do what Nate Parker did in that film without tons of further character development to explain how he shook off a lifetime of conditioning over incidents that, let's face it, must've been pretty commonplace back then. It just seemed like a film written and directed by a coli militant

Django is almost 3 hours and had 10 times the budget literally. It's a hard comparison to make. Give Nate those resources and it would've delved deeper.Felt too rushed.
