nikkas got every excuse in the world accept the more likely reality which is that the film wasn't as impressive or as good as people like to pretend it is.
Felt too rushed. If you watched Django Unchained closely you'll have noticed that the only reason he was able to go from docile slave to cac killer in 5 seconds was because he was handed a letter by the Federal government loaning him power to kill cacs, aka, he was still the same slave, just to a more powerful master. Implying that it is IMPOSSIBLE to do what Nate Parker did in that film without tons of further character development to explain how he shook off a lifetime of conditioning over incidents that, let's face it, must've been pretty commonplace back then. It just seemed like a film written and directed by a coli militant :manny:

The way it was hyped up, I was like this must be some :dwillhuh: status. Movie was weak sauce :francis:

Django is almost 3 hours and had 10 times the budget literally. It's a hard comparison to make. Give Nate those resources and it would've delved deeper.
