The first one that comes to my mind is when Irish Billy Collins got his head beatin in by Luis Resto

Collins father realized after the fight that Resto's gloves had some of the padding removed.

Resto admitted some years later that he also uses plaster of Paris

Collins vision was permenantly damaged and was forced to call it quits. That lead to him spiraling out of control, drinking heavy and a fatal car accident.

@patscorpio got the rest pretty much covered although I'd throw in Margarito vs Cotto 1

i dont know if ill put margarito-cotto 1 on there....it was a bad beating but cotto picked up belts at 154 and 160 after...he's only a fight removed from being a champion

at max the injury ends the career, at min it severely puts a dent in a fighter's career going forward

like from my sample i listed..there are 2 fighter that fought after an injury but never were effective again as fighters

lamon brewster fought that fight against liakhovich with an eye that was already compromised and ends up taking an ungodly amount of punishment in that...ends up with an eye so bad he couldn't get a license to fight anywhere in the US unless it was some backwoods type commission..on top of that ended up shot to pieces and he went 2-3 in his last 5 fights after

antonio margarito got his eye destroyed by pacquiao and the punishment he took also made him shot..he's only fought twice after that...1-1 in strugglefests...a shell of himself and can barely get licensed in any state if at all
