Female-led Van Helsing series picked up by Syfy

Dozens of actors have portrayed the vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, but next year will see a new reimagining of the Dracula character. Syfy has picked up Van Helsing, a sci-fi action series that will center around a female lead.

The show will focus on Vanessa Helsing, the next in line of a lineage of vampire hunters. After being resurrected five years in the future – when vampires have taken over the world – Vanessa must fight to save humanity.

“Van Helsing represents a new mythology in sci-fi by challenging traditional vampire rules,” said executive producer Chad Oakes in a statement. “The series is unique in exploring a world completely dominated by vampires, while the human characters have to learn the importance of working together to ensure their survival.”

Writer-director Neil LaBute will serve as showrunner, and the 13-episode season is set to premiere in fall 2016.

I'm sick of vampire movies and shows stripping vampires of all their powers basically dumbing them down

Give me the vampires from fright night. The vampires that controlled the weather, turned into fog, bats, wolves, had no reflection, were weakened by crucifixes and garlic and holy water

And weren't day walkers! Also can control certain animals like bats, rodents and wolves. Only ones that get that shyt right nowadays is anime
I also want their eyes a different color than black! Give me red or something else

And make each vampire have a unique look when they vamp out. No vampire should look exactly alike
