Fellas: When you first get a number do you call or text on first contact

Ive always called but in today society it seems like everyone prefers a text, so im wondering should I start with a text first. I just always felt like I want to hear their voice, plus a phone call is more personal.

a benefit of texting first is that a lot of people dont answer the phone from a number they dont recognize, so if you start with an initial text, they atleast have your number now, plus if they are free to talk they may say, hey give me a call
