There's a new Fear Effect game coming to Kickstarter.
The game is called Fear Effect Sedna, and its crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to launch April 12. French indie studio Sushee is running the project and has the blessing of Fear Effect copyright holder Square Enix.
According to Eurogamer, Fear Effect Sedna was heavily inspired by Harebrained Schemes' Shadowrun Returns (another Kickstarter project).
The inspiration shows in the game's promotional images, which feature a similar top-down perspective. The first pair of Fear Effect games were a third-person shooters in the style of the original Resident Evil games.
Sushee founder Benjamin Anseaume goes so far as to say "it's not going to be Fear Effect 3." Instead it will "be a new Fear Effect with new gameplay."
Sedna is also the latest product of the Square Enix Collective, a program allowing developers to pitch the publisher on crowdfunding campaigns based on its properties.
Sushee and Square Enix have worked together before on the adventure game Goetia, scheduled for release April 14.
