Who started the whole celebration thing in sports? Athletes were pretty damn swagless, overly professional or emotionless pre-90s.

Was it Deion Sanders? He was before my time but that's the oldest player I've seen showboating and busting out elaborate celebrations.

Hmm not so sure about that, Showtime Lakers, Barkley, Doctor J, Darryl Dawkins, Dominique Wilkins and even lesser known players like Kenny Walker had what one would call "swag". Surely they were not emotionless. Hell MJ built a huge part of his legend in the 80s.
