How so?

Black Americans are descendants of American slaves. We built America and created or own culture, just like Black Islanders and Afro latinos have their own culture.

Hip hop and Black American vernacular, which fat joe and the poster @CubanVoodooBreh i quoted is wanting to be apart of was created by Black Americans in America. That is not traditional African culture.

Hip hop is not the tradition of any other country or culture of people and neither is Black American vernacular, especially since most other groups Native language is not even English.

The term Black was also created by Black Americans (while looking for a name other than N*gger, colored, and Negro which white Americans were calling) as like I said, Black is an English word and most other peoples language is not English. They were just called African until they started moving to the u.s. in droves and lumped in with us or wanted to be included. It was only then that it began to change to mean "of African descent".

Come with facts please, or dont come at all :queen:

So you're saying that black foreigners and racially mixed people who identify with african culture should come to the united states and not assimilate into black american culture, or even be influenced by it? Even after spending generations here? Also did i read that wrong or are you saying that hip hop has no african roots? Not trying to attack you or come at u sarcastically because i feel the united states is a weird country cuz you have two different cultures, white culture and black culture and latin people specifically have to make a conscious choice on which to align themselves with to be taken seriously as 'americans' otherwise we just get seen as immigrant spics who dont wanna adapt to the US. Because i live here, i care about the culture that i feel for, and its easier to make a jump from Caribbean afrolatin inspired culture into African american culture than to gravitate towards mainstream white american culture because at least with black americans we have certain overlaps. I honestly cant tell you too much about white american culture and i consume from them too, whereas i feel black folk are more accepting in certain cases.

I know I know, you from NYC. Doesnt mean you're any smarter. If someone Jackson, Mississippi checks Jose becasue he dont look like him, what are you going to say? Your mans is from the Bronx, and you know he has something like 15% afro ancestry? foh.

And my point is, you look at a PR like Tony Touch who looks white af and a Mexican who obviously has Afro Roots, but because one is PR you're ok with them? I've met Afro Mexicans, and Ive been to Guerrero and Veracruz to see a large enough population of black descendants. Whether they ignorant to that fact or not.
Don’t be spittin facts now :woah:

I'm bringing up those Nuyoricans because you're blanketing them all the same. Conversley, on the opposite specteum you do it with Mexcians. I live in Houston, & I know how different they all are even amongst each other.

i don't understand your point
are u comparing Puerto Ricans to Mexicans ???

again...

  • Slave ships went to Puerto Rico ~not~ to Mexico
  • DNA data states Ricans of having 20% on average West African blood ~while~ its 2% for Mexicans
  • Ricans in nyc & the NorthEast region have lived together in harmony since they migrated in the 60’s plus the camaraderie between us is 2nd to none ~while~ Mexicans & Blacks been warring on the streets & in general in LA/Cali for decades

so, again
what is your point ???

Veracruz was a huge slave port, in MX. You're generalizing ALL Mexicans as if none have African roots, just as you're generalizing ALL Ricans like they are all African descended. Youre being obtuse to support your PR relationship.

& what does Cali have to do with it? Everyone knows they have they're own thing going on. It's why I bring up a place like Chicago.

Where do you think island Latinos got their almost fanatical appreciation for music and rhythm from? White Spaniards? Or our foods and seasonings? Plantains and cooked rice and peas? From Spaniards? Or our spiritual connections to God and the way we worship literal African deities, things like ancestral possession which yall in the black church call catching the holy spirit? From white folks? Or the tightness of the family structure usually revolving around an older woman matriarch? C'mon now if you saying things like that arent universal African cultural staples then your just doing mental gymnastics. In that case African Americans dont have any connection to any African peoples except themselves. I know thats not what you saying cuz youd be wrong.

This dude is obsessed with trying to claim Spanish’s as black.

He just don’t want his self hate to make him look like a c00n.
Like dude think because some latinos are of African descent then that extends to the entire demographic. That'd be like someone claiming obvious Indian descent Trinidadians as black because there's other African descent people there.

It’s only because he prefers Latin women and doesn’t want to feel like a c00n.

It’s like the neo nazis who can’t cure their list for Asian women and start calling them honorary aryans.

It has nothing to do with history or sociology... it’s his Latina obsession. This is like the 10th thread for him
