Oscar lost most of his biggest fights. Lost to prime Shane. Arguably Lost to old Pernell. Lost to Tito. Oscar was a great fighter who took on all comers but he would lose to sugar ray the same way he lost to those other guys. Be more reminiscent of the Shane fight. Where he was always a step behind in the speed and athleticism department. He would get frustrated and tire himself out chasing that knockout punch. It would be like an 8-4, 9-3 fight.

Ray Leonard.

De La Hoya was a clean boxer, one of the best of his era honestly. Terrific left jab (one of the best I've seen) and devastating left hook but by the time he worked with Floyd Sr. to really become a more complete fighter he was past his prime (great glimpse of what may have been though). Props to Robert Alcazar though, dude was a good trainer before then.

I think the fight is close going into the championship rounds then Ray Leonard puts the pressure on late and gets the clear decision. De La Hoya has a good chin, but he gets too cautious vs fighters with snappy power like Ray had.

SRL.

Oscar is a legend in his own right but Leonard at 147 is among the best ever. There's other guys all time I'd probably pick over ODLH at Welterweight whereas with Ray Leonard I cant confidently pick a name over him. Oscar P4P accomplishment wise is close I mean 6>>5 but SRL is of a different tier.

Leonard has great stamina and a touch more power. I think it’d be a great fight but I think he overwhelms him down the stretch. 15 round fight he get a knockdown I’m the last 3 rounds and maybe a knockout in a 12 round he gets a UD. I can see Leonard having trouble with ODLH jab early in the fight as well. It’s a really phenomenal jab.

the biggest difference between the two was the fact was that SRL was athletically gifted...i can see oscar winning some of the early rounds as SRL settles into his...oscar had a very very educated jab...then get flustered when SRL starts hitting him with the footwork and feints and do the bolo to get him off his game in the middle rounds...by the championship rounds i can see oscar losing steam and SRL separate himself down the stretch...if its 12 rounds 115-112 ish...im sure they will prolly trade knockdowns but ill give it to SRL by decision

SRL pretty easily. We have to remember he was a killer in his prime at WW. He had so many tools in his bag where he could outbox DLH or if he wanted to fight, they could do that & he'd get the best of him. Plus he was a two handed fighter that could threw vicious shots to body to wear guys down. DLH had a helluva chin so I don't know if he stops him but he loses

He did lose that fight. RIP to the GOAT :mjcry:

But I see it the same way as everyone else. Probably go the way of the first SRL - Hearns fight where ODH loses steam late and Sugar will capitalize on it a get a late KO

I had a feeling this one would be like this. I'm going to put Ray Leonard in there with a more competitive matchup in the future, just gotta ask one more matchup and see.
