A devoted single father of 1 taking care of his widowed elderly mother finally decides to pursue his life-long career dream of being a police officer. His previous medical condition makes it difficult for him to graduate from the police Academy and eventually fails his final exam. In a way to both take care of his is family as well as protect and serve the civilians in his small town, he decides to work as a security guard at the local mall.
He first experiences extreme difficulty with his job, as his new co-worker isn't as committed to the responsibilities their career sets forth, but still adversely decides to do his job as capable as he can. He eventually learns that his new co-worker has only taken the job to rob the mall and hold its employees and shoppers hostage. Coincidentally, Our main character's daughter has also been taken hostage as she brings her father's lunch to work.
After feeling the intense devestation from not only failing at his responsibilities as a security officer, but also as a father by allowing his workplace to be taken over by criminals he decides the best way to save the lives of the innocent hostages, as well as his daughter, is to take matters into his own hands. Despite being advised to stand down by SWAT team officers who arrive on the scene, his feelings of guilt and adrenaline push him to go beyond any physical or mental challenge he has previously faced.
He knows he may fail. He knows he may risk the lives of the innocent and the only child he has. But it is a risk he is willing to take to insure the safety of those he is responsible for. A responsibility that only a father and career man could possibly understand
