A few years back I wrote Curren$y off as another weed carrier for Weezy. He had a couple of a good lines but nothing special.

I know artist mature and it takes a couple of bad attempts find your wave, but to me seems like Curren$y had to pull a 180.

I remember Wayne kept hyping up that song "Where da Cash at" :scusthov:

-Was Wayne holding him back?

-Is it the beats?

I'm cool with Jet Life but he wasn't on this shyt 5 years ago.

How did evolve from being another Gudda Gudda/Mack Maine/ Cory Gunz etc?

His style evolved from kinda a poor man's new orleans fabolous to his current style around '07...his last couple YM tapes Christmas in October and Life at 30,000 Feet (and tracks that were meant for his YM album like My Direction) were dope and were the beginning of the "freestyle over classic hip hop beat" theme that he became later known for during the monthly mixtape series...but they really didn't get much love cause he didn't get cool to like on the internet until he left wayne...and he just steadily refined his style during that montly mixtape run and the projects after that and the rest is history...peaking at around Pilot Talk 2 to me, and he's kinda lyrically regressed since then but still putting out dope music

he's a good rapper..like he really embodies that spitta name cause he can can go in on any song...but his albums/mixtapes lack focus and they end up all sounding the same despite having diff. producers.

Stoned Immaculate sold 40k first week. Nothing to write home about but it's pretty solid in this day and age. And on Warner Bros which has less resources and weaker marketing than Universal artists do.

Spitta's my dude but I've definitely grown bored of his content and rapping style. I only like him in small doses now. Talking about the same shallow stuff all the time with a sometimes boring flow and lazy voice over dope production can only get you so far in my rotation.

I respect the fukk out of his grind, his connection with the fans and the whole Jet Life movement though. And his ear for beats is top notch.

nikkas talking about him being one of the nicest out(saw somebody here even say he's the best emcee alive) can miss me with that though.
