Rumors are, WWE is set to revive their all-women Evolution pay-per-view. It would ride shotgun to WWE SummerSlam and if so, there's potentially a big debut (re-debut) in the works. It could be, arguably, one of the biggest debuts of 2020.
Tessa Blanchard recently left (or was pushed out) of Impact Wrestling and while AEW seems to have little interest in bringing her aboard, WWE is rumored to have touched base, potentially bringing the high-profile free agent in for the Evolution 2 event.
According to
PW Unlimited, Blanchard and the event are being closely linked and if news of her debut were to "leak" it certainly would draw a crowd. Blanchard has been in the news a lot this past year. As the first female Impact World Champion, she was dramatically released last month after failing to deliver on her duties as champion. The company was worried she wasn't going to show up for Slammiversary, thus they declared the title vacant. Updates on those reports noted that Blanchard's contract was already set to expire.
Speculation is that, despite controversy over her status with Impact Wrestling and some allegations of previous racially insensitive remarks, WWE is eager to sign her. It wouldn't be the first time she competed in WWE, as she was previously part of the Mae Young Classic back in 2017 and had made some appearances with NXT.
If Evolution 2 is a go, the pay-per-view is slated for 30 August. That would come one week after SummerSlam which has been officially moved to the WWE Performance Center.
There has been no official confirmation of the event, nor has a card been suggested, but WWE will certainly go all-out to make it a success if they move forward
