Im sick of all the media, spewing their holier than though crap about PED when the whole reason theyre mad is steeped in racism.

Theres a reason people only care about PED in baseball.

Its such a joke that the media doesnt think any of the records fromt he 20s are tainted when it was nothing but white players but a few PED and theyre in an uproar, so apparently PEDs are worse than segregation to the white media.

I mean anytime they have an all time position by position list over half the list is white guys from the 20s. Cmon you put those guys on the field with even a decent player from this era and they getting blown off the field no homo

Thinking Babe Ruth is the best baseball player is like thinking George Mikan is the best basketball player

I also dont see why guys can use HGH it helps you stay on the field, it isnt a performance enhancer, its a healthier version of greenies that these old grumpy players were using for years. Imagine Griffey or Mantle had HGH back in the day, what their careers couldve been

Let Melky live

Plus its all about favorites anyway, Arod is on the same list as Ortiz, Arod admits to usage but gets crucified cause he didnt give exact details of where he copped and the name of his dealer, basically shiiit there was no way anyone would say. Ortiz was just like "i didnt do it, mustve been a mistake" and the media was like "ok"

damn son -- you just wrote a whole lotta nothing

I just dropped knowledge on you, everything the media would have you think about baseball is a lie, from not liking sabermetrics to this garbage.

These white dudes wanna keep baseball in the 20s

Still waiting for the "steeped in racism" back-up.

But really, you want the media today to still be talking about segregation in the 20s?

And if you discredit the careers of Ruth, Gehrig, Hornsby and Wagner then you have to do the same with the careers of Gisbon, Paige, Charleston, Lloyd and Bell. I'd rather not do that.

It sucks that the climate in baseball at the time didn't allow the best players to compete against each other. No one is saying otherwise. But the idea the great players wouldn't still be great players in an integrated league is foolish and misguided.

The "put a guy from that era in this one" argument is almost as dumb. Humans in from this era are obviously better athletes. But that doesn't mean we should stop recognized great ones from the past either. If so, we might as well stop heralding the likes of Jim Brown, Jesse Owens, Bobby Orr, Wilma Rudolph, Johnny Unitas, Deacon Jones ad Oscar Robertson, because the truth is that if brought to the 2012 season in a time machine...none of them would make a professional roster.

Compare athletes to their era and their peers. Not to every era.

Its racism cause the only reason they care is they dont want all the old white records broken.

Second yes they should bring up segregation still, I bet they never stop talking about the roid era. Its a huge deal. Theyd be great yes but their numbers would never be on that level. Hornsby wasnt hitting 427 if ALL the best players were playing. And theres no way to know if Babe Ruth was better than Josh Gibson. I agree unfortunately we cant put Gibson/Page, etc in the same breath as the new guys but guess what ? Nobody does. Most people dont know Josh Gibson but EVERYONE knows Babe Ruth.

But either way none of them is better than Bonds/Pujols/Arod etc

You cant only compare guys to their era, I dont think we do this in any other sport. Jordan is certainly as athletic of anyone all time, but even he will be passed in the future at some point when people naturally get stonger, Why cant old people just admit that?

Hank Aaron had the home run record. Hank Aaron is black.

Nobody really cares about any other record.

If you don't compare athletes to their era, then Jesse Owens ain't shyt.

Is that REALLY the direction you want to go?

He also broke Big Macs record, a record that was held by a white guy for the entire MLB history and it could be argued is more sacred than the career hr record

I know, now they had to have the same fake outrage for anyone that took roids or they will clearly look racist but during Macs run everyone was loving it, with Bonds they either didnt care (which I admit is partially cause the record was only 3 years old) or they questioned Bonds legitimacy.

But if Mac doesnt have it, it reverts to Maris anyway, a white guy

And Sammy Sosa was lucky he didnt beat Mac out. During the run since he was always a step behind Mac, white people accpeted him as the loveable house hispanic but if he had the "nerve" to beat Mac for that record, he woulda been questioned about roids right then and there
