TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University cheer team has been suspended for the 2013-14 academic year for what officials said was a violation of the school’s hazing policy.
An appeal is expected next week, as first reported by the University’s student-run newspaper The Towerlight .
The team is prohibited from practicing or performing.
The team secured a bid to this year’s National Cheerleaders Association National Championships for finishing first place last year. It is unknown how the suspension will affect the team’s automatic bid.
