This paragraph sums it up well:
"But in case you want to be more precise, let’s examine how enshyttification works. It’s a three-stage process: first, platforms are good to their users. Then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers. Finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, there is a fourth stage: they die."
Basically, platforms work hard to capture users and customers, but then they have to maximize profit so your experience goes to shyt. The only reason you stay on the platform is because they've "captured" you (all your content is there, all your friends are there, inertia is hard to break), but you never would have signed up for such a shytty experience if it is what they were offering from the beginning.
