I got to admit... Some of the lore is straight jibberish and it kind of hurts the game a tiny bit. A lot of it is too ambiguous and open endedly vague. It's just nonsense dribble that make it seems interesting, but nothing makes sense.
This 100%. The story is weak. Some people like that, but I prefer a narrative.

don't ever get greedy in this game :mjcry:

doesn't matter if the boss has one HP left. don't let your guard down
Oooooh truth 100%.

I had Astel down to like 1 or 2 hits from death. If I'd waited a split second and then moved on him, it would have been done. Got greedy and he got me just as I hit R2 with BH Fang. Should have done quick R1 taps.

So far, him and General Radhan have been the hardest fights for me. Rennala was tough just because of how long it took to get back to phase 2 after doing all that shyt in her library for Phase 1. Radhan was more annoying because of the running around.

Update so far, i am on part 11 of the walkthrough, progressed a bit more, site of graces, defeated some night bosses and just exploring Stormveil castle. One thing i will say is its quite hard to upgrade your weapons and summons in this game alot of hassle. I am still trying to get a smithing stone 6 to upgrade my uchigtana to plus 17 , and get glovesworth 7 to upgrade my spirit summons, I'm using those rotten dogs its at plus 6 right now. i have the skeletal militamen and the wolves as well.
I haven't gone far enough yet where i can just buy smithing stones from the grace table, i dont have the bell bearings yet.

If you gonna summon, use Black Night Tiche.

Use bloodhound step or a giant shield w/ barricade shield

adding on...

i would prioritize bloodhound step. it'll give you a wider margin for error while learning her attacks, but still force you to learn how to fight her.

tiche is def the right call if you're gonna summon, but i wouldn't use him until she hits her second form. i've personally never seen a summons make it through the full fight. if you can take down her first form without using a summons, tiche will bare minimum whittle down her health a bit (provided he doesn't run head first into her initial attack), and you'll be familiar enough with fighting her that you should be able to finish her off.

I don't have that ash so lemme get that first then try again. Ain't even gonna lie though, once a boss is so tough I begin to dislike the game I just forget it. I'll say I'm a decent player at Fromsoft games, but boss fights that are relentless to the point of unfairness turn me off. The Valiant Gargoyles and Godskin Duo are examples of this. Eventually beat them but it took a while, and I hated every second of it.

Malenia is tough as hell but she’s a skill-check boss in regards to your understanding of Elden Ring combat principles.

-The toughest bosses react and read your positioning during their combo strings. You have to manage your positioning and proximity against Malenia.

-You cannot mash R1 against Malenia. She’s designed to punish R1 spam by either deflecting your attack and jumping back to her most dangerous range, gaining hyper armor and trading with you, or just straight up doing the Waterfowl Dance at close range.

-Posture breaking. Malenia is unbelievably weak to posture breaking attacks. Use jump attacks, Flame of the Redmane (Ash of War), and all of your moves let situationally.

The best thing I did was learn Malenia’s 1st phase and use it learn her move set and speed before summoning anyone.

Smithing Stones are pretty much your “leveling” gate-keepers. Keeps you from getting TOO overpowered since most of your damage comes from upgrading weapons.

You won’t get consistent access to the better smithing stones until you get into further areas.

What about the lore and story is weak specifically?

I found it to be pretty awesome. yea you don't definitively know everything but you do know enough to piece together most things.

I love how Fromsoft games are kind of like you're a historian/archaeologist. Everything happened and the world is how it is because of that. But all you have is the physical evidence of what happened and what people wrote down. I find this method superior to 1,2,3 storytelling like a book as far as in video games.

Took down Mohg before Malenia and Maliketh. Used Mimic Tear with a Bloodhound Fang +10. Beat him on the first try which kinda surprised me. Definitely helped having a huge health pool and 10 health flasks plus 2 FP flasks because of the blood loss effect.

He's supposed to be optional and for the late game but didn't feel as tough as the way people explained. Without a summons, yeah he'd be much harder....Mimic seemed to keep his attention more than other bosses. Mohg only went after me like twice. 425k runes is nice.

General Radahn and Astel are (to this point) my hardest fights. Rennala is easy in the second phase but it takes awhile to get through Phase 1. More annoying than hard.

I love how From does story telling and lore because it allows me to absorb/digest as much story as I’m in the mood for. There is absolutely a narrative to follow and a lot of the basics are pretty understandable.
