No. It doesn’t play like any of those.

This is an RPG, with levels and stats for health, stamina, magic, etc and you’re not going to be busting out combos.
Thank you for this information!!
The only RPG I ever tried was Star wars Old Republic
And I hated the fact that you push a bunch of buttons and then AFTER your character makes a move.
That's the last thing I want, I want something where if you push a button something happens.

Does this mean RPG is not for me?
Seriously, legit asking.

I’ve never played that Star Wars game, so I can’t speak on how it works. I’m mostly a JRPG person (Final Fantasy, Persona, Kingdom Hearts).

For Elden Ring, you start out with a class, and stats already assigned a certain way. As you level up, you can increase whatever stat you choose, (Health, Stamina, Magic, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane.)

You create the character you want and how you build him is entirely up to you. You can have a basic ass knight, a samurai, a mage or mix it up.

Your stats effect what weapons you can use, so for example if you don’t have enough strength, that new weapon you just got, sorry can’t use it yet.

You have two attack buttons, for a light and heavy attack. You can have a shield and block. You can jump and have a dodge roll. When you press a button, things happen.

It’s not a fast paced game, although some bosses can’t get wild. Definitely a game where you have to figure out enemy patterns and when to block, when to dodge and when to attack. A common theme for Souls types games is “don’t be greedy”.

It’s not like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry so don’t expect to be zipping around doing crazy shyt.

If you’re really interested in trying it out, I say wait until it’s on sale.

The combat is closer to ninja gaiden than star wars.

When you push a button something happens. It’s just each button press really matters. You wont be doing a bunch of combos. You gotta manage your stamina and your position to block/dodge. If you miss a swing or a dodge/block you will be punished.

It’s an action game, but it also has stats and crafting and weapon upgrades like an RPG.

I am enjoying this game more and more and this is from a first time player of elden ring or any similar games like this. I have defeated margit and explored a ton and defeated some of the limgrave night bosses, got some nice ashes of war, i am using the uchigatana with plus14 and bloody slash as ash of war. Anyone knows how to upgrade the uchigatana to plus 50 or max? i cant see where to get smithing stone six. I am having tons of fun playing the game and i havent even explored or gun that deep into it. I spent alot of time trying to increase the vigor level

uchikatana goes up to +25. You’ll need to explore further into the game to get the higher tier smithing stones.

Been playing this for a second time since beginning of June and yeah safe to say this is my favorite game of the past few years easily. I’m running a int arc build not the most optimized build since I’m splitting dmg but it’s still fun af.

I’m right around endgame with Elenora’s pole maxed, Rivers of Blood maxed out, Moonveil I think is +7 and is dope to dual wield and Mohgs Spear. Just running through fukking shyt up :wow:

And I’m gonna play it again from the beginning with a str faith build because my gawd the weapons that scale with that build :ohlawd:

Goty sorry GOW I know you’ll be fire as well but I don’t believe it’s gonna touch ER

Rykard Lord of Blasphemy.

No gimmick spear
No summons
No shield

True Skill

I got him to halfway in Phase 2 with Bloodhound Fang but the fire/lava/"flame faces" damage adds up even with the fire reduction talisman.

2nd try, I used the Serpent Spear plus Mimic and it was wayyyyyyyy too easy. Middle ground is probably a good weapon and maybe a weak or moderate summons.

I got to admit... Some of the lore is straight jibberish and it kind of hurts the game a tiny bit. A lot of it is too ambiguous and open endedly vague. It's just nonsense dribble that make it seems interesting, but nothing makes sense.

That’s Miyazaki in nutshell, but Elden Rings story is probably the most cohesive.

Once realize every soulsborne game is basically Eldritch Horror gods trying control your world, you understand 75% of any games lore.

The main story beats are cohesive and nothing much else. Honestly, the side stories are better than the main one.
