Thank you for this information!!
The only RPG I ever tried was Star wars Old Republic
And I hated the fact that you push a bunch of buttons and then AFTER your character makes a move.
That's the last thing I want, I want something where if you push a button something happens.
Does this mean RPG is not for me?
Seriously, legit asking.
I’ve never played that Star Wars game, so I can’t speak on how it works. I’m mostly a JRPG person (Final Fantasy, Persona, Kingdom Hearts).
For Elden Ring, you start out with a class, and stats already assigned a certain way. As you level up, you can increase whatever stat you choose, (Health, Stamina, Magic, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane.)
You create the character you want and how you build him is entirely up to you. You can have a basic ass knight, a samurai, a mage or mix it up.
Your stats effect what weapons you can use, so for example if you don’t have enough strength, that new weapon you just got, sorry can’t use it yet.
You have two attack buttons, for a light and heavy attack. You can have a shield and block. You can jump and have a dodge roll. When you press a button, things happen.
It’s not a fast paced game, although some bosses can’t get wild. Definitely a game where you have to figure out enemy patterns and when to block, when to dodge and when to attack. A common theme for Souls types games is “don’t be greedy”.
It’s not like Ninja Gaiden or Devil May Cry so don’t expect to be zipping around doing crazy shyt.
If you’re really interested in trying it out, I say wait until it’s on sale.
