Stayed up all night fighting Melania. Can't beat her. Only got to 2nd phase a handful of times. I do kinda have a strategy to get past first phase, it just goes against everything I wanna do. Basically the only time I should attack is a counter, after she attacks. You absolutely cannot be the aggressor, because I'm pretty sure input reads is legit part of her design. It's really bad. I don't know what the fukk they were thinking.

But I have found some openings (for first phase), it's just hard for me not to go on the offensive, so I keep getting hit because you attack, she attacks, and trading with her is very bad because she hits hard, and heals smh. 2nd phase is some shyt though. I don't know what I'm gonna do there. The start of the phase is a good damage opportunity, but you have to time it right, be quick, then hope she doesn't go directly into Waterfowl, which she did to me twice. Phase 2 starts, she does that aoe bullshyt, wakes up directly into Waterfowl. Such a shytty ass fight man.

And someone above suggested a summon. I'm not using summons. Nor shields. Not gonna parry cheese her either. Wanna beat her legit (whatever that means lol). Not looking great right now though, not gonna lie. Most I got her down in 2nd phase was about halfway. There's like no downtime so trying to heal or pop a FP estus is not easy. There's a special place in hell for whoever thought this fight was a good idea. It's all cheap bullshyt against someone that doesn't have to play by the same rules we do. I always hate when developers do shyt like that. It's not a fair fight in the slightest.

I think people should play the game however they're comfortable with but this summon discussion is a very bizarre hill to die on.

Thread has dozens of posts detailing "8 million per hour!" rune farming to get over leveled as fukk....a gang of posts bragging about beating bosses with the Mimic, Sword Of Night And Flame, etc. before the nerfs....even quite a few posts flat out telling you how to cheese bosses in order to win....

But cats draw the line at summons? :mjlol::gucci:

Look man, I'm not saying use or don't use them. You paid for the game, do whatever you want. But people seem to have more disdain for summons, which is a game play mechanic....then breaking the game via glitches that make the boss die instantly. Which is fukking crazy to me.

If you do win, it's not gonna be because you got better. You're essentially banging your head against a wall until you get lucky.

Again, if that's how you want to play the game :hubie:do you but you're choosing not to use half the tools From Software gave you, then wondering why you gotta stay up all night and still fail to kill her.

Hell, while you're at it don't use healing. Tie one hand behind your back, too.

Summons is making the game easier. I don’t want the game to be easier. Summons are so strong that I’ve seen ppl sit back and watch them kill bosses. Why even play the game? Just make it a simulation where you put pieces on the board and see what happens :stopitslime:. I’m in that world with me, my claws, my katanas and that’s it. That’s how I do.

And yes, I’m aware that luck will be the main reason I kill her, but that just underlies why it’s such a shyt fight. We’re relying on her/the game to not fukk us over for an entire fight. Can’t tell you how many input drops I’ve had in this session. That being said, I don’t care what they put in the game, I would rather take a year to beat her than call in help from a summon :hhh:

Lastly, funny that you mention not using healing. I play Nioh 1/2 without using elixirs. Now there is passive healing options in that game, but yeah, I do that too lol. Not in this game, because the combat isn’t near fluid enough for me to be confident enough to go that route.

I'm not even talking about summons any more.

You said no parry, no shield.

Both are the bread and butter of Souls games.

Again, you bought the game. Do whatever you want. But the fight is balanced around the things you're choosing not to use.

Honestly if its taking you more than an hour in a boss fight its more a mental issue than anything else. Take a break. I notice in these games with the hard bosses most of your best runs are going to come in the first 10 tries. After that you might have a couple lucky breakthroughs but more often than that you'll notice your runs getting worse and worse. Put the controller down and relax a bit. This chick in particular is particularly demoralizing because you will have an amazing run but she will jump in the air and do that bullshyt and you instantly lose or you fail to roll twice and she is back to half HP+.

I don’t play games like this to block. Dodge and swing. Dodge and swing. And parrying would trivialize the fight. Especially with how easy it looks to do. That’s not something I care to do either.

I beat her using Blood Katana with Weapon Art Unsheathe.
She will stagger off of 3 of those if you get them in short enough timespan. Only if she takes the full hit though. For some reason if she armors through it (it lands as she's about to attack) doesn't seem to affect her poise
She bleeds really easy.
Also be sure to stock up on Kukri for phase 2. The dive bomb is just free damage opportunity for ranged attacks. Alternatively you can use Bleed Arrows when she's doing that.

The main thing about phase 1 is you will realistically be allowed a single attack at a time and you will basically need to roll and run immediately after any attack lands cause she can go into Waterfowl Dance whenever she wants and that move is near impossible to dodge the initial part of up close.

Phase 2 is crazy cause she's constantly on your dikk chasing you. So you almost never have time to heal if you fukk up. Can't count the amount of times I died with like 8 or 9 Estus purely cause I had no space to heal ever

You got to hit leg until the string comes off. Once thats off youlll do more damage hitting that same leg. Once you cut the leg off, just hit em up with swarm of flies or dragon rot breath and you good.
Good tip about the leg. I'm not using any incantations in my build unfortunately

I'll have to try Unsheathe. I've been using Nagakiba (Bloodhound's Step) and Rivers of Blood against her. I'll tag Uchi in for RoB cause I just can't give up Bloodhound's Step. Can't believe I didn't think of the Kukri. I've been just running in and getting some licks in at the start of 2nd phase.

I fought her some more before turning it off cause I gotta leave. Can get to 2nd phase pretty consistently now, but just get wrecked once I get there lol. It's taking forever smh. This fight is not fun in the slightest. I will likely never do it again after this shyt. Fitting end to such a shytty area I suppose.

I use every dirty trick I can find against these bytch ass bosses :mjlol:

These nikkas don't even follow the already ridiculous rules of the player character :mjtf:...yet I'm supposed to feel some type of way that I summoned a clone of my possibly gimped player self to fight a boss that covers the entire screen, is more flexible than the craziest cac bytch you've ever fukked with, has no form of endurance penalty, is damn near immune to anything you can throw at it, and has the nerve to come back from death while I gotta do this whole thing all over again :gucci:

No sir, every inch of my blackness is tested by this damn game :martin:

It's fun as hell tho, I can't lie :lolbron:
