If you use the Ashes of War to change the weapon element or to do magic damage, it will do that damage with all attacks, not just the special

I put the frost on a mace with quickstep and all attacks do frost damage
i have holy damage on my Katana and it only do holy damage with special attacks or when the weapon is coated with holy. what game version you running?

I think there are weapons with innate elements on it. I’ve looked at katanas on wiki multiple times and I swear there’s one that does fire damage along with physical.

I have some a frost hatchet/axe also. It does seem like they’re not very abundant. Guess they want you to use all the different greases in the game to buff your weapons like that.
that's stupid. its the first souls game i've seen like this. once you add affinity to the weapon. we should be able to have that affinity for all attacks.

There is something so simple about being a brute. Don't give a damn about FP. No blue pots..don't need to kill those blue fukkers to refresh. Just bash my head against whatever the lock-on button determines has a health bar.

Every weapon can have one affinity, as you find more whetstones you can change to more types.

You most certainly can permanently add bleed, or fire, or poison, or magic to a weapon passively.

Unless I'm misunderstanding your complaint.

my issue is that i have to use L2 to use the affinity. It doesn't adds with any normal attack.

No you don't.

Ash of war is a weapon skill, affinity is a permanent passive(which can be based off the weapon skill). They are two separate things.

I can make my Rapier blood, magic, poison, frost, whatever right now and have it passively do that damage on basic attacks.

On your stats screen look for passive at the bottom.

I did it too and people keep acting like there is less time in a week than there is. Makes me wonder if people every really do the math on how much time they have.

I platted this, raised my son, slept, did night school got an A on my project and worked my job last week no issues. Not has hard as people make it seem.

168 hours in a week. -40 for work. I probably average about 5 hours of sleep a night (maybe this is where the difference lies) -35 for sleep, prolly 10 hours a week on school, quality time with my son another 10 hours. That leaves me 73 hours of free time a week.

Took me 9 days to plat as well. That's plenty of time especially if you use most of it on a hobby. Which is a rare exception, but for a game like this I went in. But to answer your question.... yes you can sleep, be a father, go to school, work and still have enough time to plat a game in a week and a half.
I'm not saying yall don't have lives a game hard too I was saying it like I didn't think gettin plat for this was so easy...I didn't even look at the trophy list...I figured it was hard as fukk to get plat in all souls games...im level 35 just running around only killed 2 story bosses so far..

oh this is one of the easier from plats

only demons souls remake was easier

They aren't making you hit NG+ 4 for a rare ring or complete insane quests to collect all sorceries which you have to do several play throughs of etc.

Very straight forward, I prolly had 70% of them just organically beating the game and bosses.

The element is added to your weapon and L2 is just the special movie.

I added the “Magic Glinstone” ash of war to sword and it now does magic damage and has the magic spell on the L2

Think I may have to reinstall my game. Let me try that

To be clear certain affinities are mainly about changing scaling, so putting magic affinity on a physical blade isn't making it glow blue per se. It is changing the scaling to INT so you add magic damage.

But an affinity like say frost, or poison, or bleed, will passively cause build up on all attacks.

Elden Ring affinities and whetblades explained

this might help you, it's like dark souls 3 really with the raw gems and magic gems or whatever.
SMH I need to go get that Iron Whetblade. Probably behind one of the key fogs. I got some to burn, lemme go look.

So I just got the Bloodhound's Step Ash of War. Night's Calvary at Lenne's Rise (in NE part of Caelid. It's pretty close to the Minor Erdtree there). There is a Grace outside the Rise. The Bridge is directly north. Obviously change time to Night to get him. By the way, the Quickstep Ash of War is sold by dude in the Warmaster's Shack in Stormhill. @KingsnBucs1987
