The marketing of dance music in America is making me cringe my head in shame.

The average "EDM" festival in 2013 is basically rich kids moshing to robot noises.

Pay $500 dollars to go to some overcrowded festival surrounded by neon clad bros and teenage girls all Molly'd out...

Pay $10 for a water...

Pay $20 for a beer...

And listen to 50 djs play the 100 remixes of the same 20 songs...

Basically...this

I remember back in the late 90's-early 2000's when raves were EVERYWHERE and were like 10-30 bucks to get in...so many of the same DJ's or better DJ's than the ones that got on would throw shows and shyt. And yeah, there were mad kids there drugged out of their minds and shyt but it was NEVER this bad...Stereo Live in Houston gets shut down on a reggie 'cause of retarded ass shyt like this...I'm too old for that EDM life that these cats are livin' but it was better back in the day...and there were different types of music(a chill area, house area, trance area etc). Mainstream EDM is shyt.

Dont worry this "Trap" phase will die out just like "Brostep".

Im just curious as to what's going to become the next Bro genre.

I fukk with the mainstream stuff pretty hard. But I got into the music pretty late (like a couple years ago rather than in the 90s/early 00s). So I guess that makes me one of these fake bandwagon fans. Oh well. We like we like. :manny: But I am too grown for the festival scene. I think I would enjoy it if I was still 21 and single though :lolbron:.

I enjoy it. I hated it at first. Well I guess the more techno sound but I think it's a good change of pace music. Something different to listen to.

Depends how you're looking at it I guess. I don't go to festivals and all that jazz so I wouldn't know what the OP is talking about.

But there's still lots of solid EDM songs being made.

The so-called mainstream side of "EDM" Jesus Lord, don't go around saying "EDM", has always existed. Just go to clubs, and nights catering to what you like, to avoid all the foolishness.

For me i've never been into Trance, Mainstream House, Electro and all that nonsense. Get into these genres fully, and not just the stupid shyt you hear on TV.

Small nights with dj's playing shyt they actually like, and an audience full of people who actual love the music, has and will always be the way to go, when dealing with niche music.

True that. I've been in the scene since 98...I prefer the small scenes because they're more passionate.

I haven't messed with any festivals since Movement 2010.
