Oscar-nominee Eddie Murphy is in talks to to play Richard Pryor's father -- former boxer LeRoy "Buck Carter" Pryor -- in Lee Daniels' upcoming biopic of the late comedian.
On Thursday, Daniels uploaded the following photo of him and Eddie Murphy on Instagram, which included the caption, "Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthiso ne! #excited #proud #OMG."
According to ET Online, Murphy will star alongside Mike Epps as Pryor, Kate Hudson as Pryor's wife, Jennifer Pryor, and Oprah Winfrey as his grandmother, Marie Carter.
Murphy is known for citing Pryor as a major comedic influence (having also impersonated the veteran comedian in his early years), and went on to star alongside Pryor in 1989's Harlem Nights. Murphy almost starred in another biopic about Pryor (to be directed by Bill Condon), until the project was eventually shelved.
Daniels' untitled Richard Pryor biopic hasn't been given a release date yet.
