TBH if anything dollar general needs to go away. These places aren't even dollar anything anymore and you sometimes pay for the same price there you would at major chain.

If anything, Dollar General is more expensive for the demographic they target. They cut deals with manufacturers to make smaller versions of products on Walmarts/Targets shelves while the prices remain higher per oz/lb.

Dollar Tree had more product that costs a dollar compared to Dollar General. DG was closer to Family Dollar in prices.

They opened a Daiso near me like a year ago, haven't stepped in a dollar store since. Better merchandise with better variety at essentially the same price. Western dollar stores gonna be gone for good soon.
