When a fan suggested that Durant shouldn’t care about what haters and critics say, Durant wrote:

of my stature, I play basketball, I got acne, I grew up with nothing, in still figuring myself out in my late 20, I slide in DMs, I make fun of my friends, I drink beers and play Xbox. I’m closer to you than u think

In a sense, that’s more genuine honesty than we should ever expect to find from an NBA MVP in a YouTube comment section of all places. Yet, it also explains Durant’s recent activity on social media. He’s heard what people have said about him ever since his move to Golden State, and if he can use social media to change the mind of one person, he’s going to try.

We shouldn’t try to stop him either.

Kevin Durant explained why he cares what people think of him in sincere YouTube response

This shyt makes Durant extremely likeable to me. I know some of yall want ball players to be superhero cartoon figures you idolize. But I like the fact hes a very regular dude, who happens to be historically good at his sport. I could picture him being a Coli poster. I dont get the hate :manny:

I just think dude has a very dominant mother which kinda fukked him up and made him awkward and insecure, obviously I'm just guessing here but I'm pretty sure I'm right after seeing her all up in the cameras like Puffy after the Finals...He needs to become his own man and cut her off for a bit, then when she starts treating him like a grown ass nikka they can be close again. Worked for Floyd Mayweather with his dominant father

You're projecting a lot. Is responding to comments on social media and using it like regular people do even a "problem"? Just cause most athletes dont do it, doesnt mean it is. Most people his age are into social media. He's clearly doing alright in his professional life as an athlete and off the court financially.

Nah man I cant let you dig that deep on this one that's low key giving an excuse for this bytchassness. There was nothing awkward of insecure about how he felt on Billy Donovan or creating a separate account. That's premeditated and he has to live with the backlash. That's him "becoming a man":yeshrug:

Nah but using alt accounts is. And he is a grown man who should be above responding to idiot trolls. If you gonna use social media as a regular person why not respond to fans instead of haters? Make some kid's day? Nah he rather engages in pointless pissing contests with lowlifes, like he owns them an explanation or anything. There is a reason no high profile, famous person handles social media like that. It's simply a bad look

He shouldlve owned the Donovan comments I agree but I like the fact dude interacts on social media and gets into it with fans. Its entertaining and hes always been less guarded with his social media presence than most stars. To me thats a good thing.

Durant is the ultimate example of a fatherless nikka.

You're talking as if you're a PR person handling Durant's image. Yeah a sterile social media account that just puts out promo content and occasional tweets would create zero controversy, but its also boring as hell. Dude has always used Twitter much more like regular people do - look how many tweets he has. He's tweeted less in recent years but back in the day he would interact with fans, friends, etc on just about anything.

Part of me wishes he'd stop talking because I'm a hater, but the other part of me thinks it's dope as fukk you got an all time NBA going off on unfiltered tangents and arguing back and forth with normal folks on twitter n shyt. Dudes sensitive as fukk but it's whatever at this point if the fans fukk with it I guess

theres interacting with fans on twitter and then theres having fake accounts to talk about yourself in 3rd person while you try to shyt on your former coaches/teammates and regular folks. He deleted the tweet right away, he knew he forgot to change accounts
