Is there any reason why I shouldn't squat with a curl bar?

I don't have much experience but would like to add squats to my regimen. Starting with low weight. Have an Olympic bar but find using the curl bar easy in tight space.

Also would appreciate pointers on proper form. Thanks

You shouldn't squat with any weight until you have proper form. Use body weight first until you feel comfortable. Curl bar is fine.

I squat with everything but I prefer front squats with 2 kettlebells like this.

Could you explain proper form?
My understanding is back straight and feet shoulder wide. Should balance be in toes or heel, feet turned out or straight?

Start with the Olympic Bar with no weight and practice on your form for a Week or two, do it everyday, you are training your body and muscle the proper technique of squatting and you building muscle memory

Squat form depends on body build and proportions.

Long upper body, shorter legs (femurs in particular) = shoulder width or even slightly narrower stance. Squatting to depth is easier with good ankle flexibility.

Short upper body, proportionally longer legs (my body type) = wider stance is needed...almost a sumo stance. Front squats or Zercher squats might be better.
