Indonesian martial arts film veteran Willy Dozan, who was known to fans of classic kung fu films as Billy Chong Chuen-Lei, is back with a brand new film and this time, he has his son joining him.
DUEL-THE LAST CHOICE features Willy as Igo, a former hoodlum who has given up the thug life and has become a market owner. Three years later after having his leg broken by one of his former comrades, Igo has forgotten all about his past until he is confronted by young hoodlum Dimas (Leon Dozan, Willy’s son). Igo realizes the past, which includes old nemesis Joe, is about to catch up with him. Meanwhile, Dimas’ secret relationship with the girlfriend of a comrade sets off an internal war between former friends.Willy Dozan had been a fan favorite with martial arts fans for many years. His performance in CRYSTAL FIST (1979) was only the beginning as his team-ups with American martial arts teen Carl Scott helped solidify him as a martial arts fan favorite. After 1983′s A FISTFUL OF TALONS, Dozan returned to Indonesia but made an all-too brief appearance in 1989′s ACES GO PLACES V: THE TERRACOTTA HIT, directed by the late Lau Kar-Leung.
From the trailer, it is great to see Willy back in top form and even more, his son Leon proves himself in this film as well. Willy Dozan serves not only as star, but producer as well.
DUEL-THE LAST CHOICE is due for release in Dozan’s native Indonesia this fall. Here’s hoping a U.S. release will be imminent next year.
