Move it to Bali :mjgrin: shyt is the dopest place on earth:blessed:
Looks like the middle of the country is the move. Rumored new capital will be the sleepy town of Palangkaraya, on the island of Borneo.
:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh:

That's serious. Jakarta is one of the largest cities in SEA (South East Asia).
Half the city is below sea level and with sea level rising :damn:

I can't remember if it was F24 or Vice but they had a special on this within the last year and it's insane. The shanty towns the poor were living in were routinely flooded or being washed out to sea and developers were building high rises all around them.

In the Silver Lining
Leave Borneo alone :ufdup:

  • In Palangkaraya there is a mixed reaction to the idea of their sleepy city becoming the nation's capital.

  • One high school student told the BBC: "I hope the city will develop and the education will become as good as in Jakarta. But all the land and forest that's empty space now will be used. Kalimantan is the lungs of the world, and I am worried, we will lose the forest we have left."
  • Mr Brodjonegoro said that the process could take 10 years. He told reporters after the meeting that if other countries could achieve it, so could Indonesia.

  • "Brazil moved from Rio de Janeiro to Brasilia near the Amazon, and look at Canberra it's built between Sydney and Melbourne, and Kazakhstan moved their capital to closer to the centre of the country and also Myanmar moved to Naypyidaw," he said.
  • The announcement comes after Mr Widodo vowed to spread economic development more evenly around the country.

Scary shyt. I really hope it isn't Borneo. Borneo is one of the ecological wonders of the world and its forest is already getting destroyed by plantation at an incredible rate. Put a capital city there and they'll be that much more fukked.

I was watch f24 again recently and I can't remember if was Indonesia or Thailand anyways somewhere in the immediate region they cut all their mangroves for farming of some sort possibly even for shrimp anyways the coastal erosion due to that ended up wiping out miles of coastline and they were trying to save this temple which had become fully engulfed by the ocean, eventually people stepped up and started planting mangroves again to try and save the coast and temple... just insane what we've done to our planet
