STRATFORD -- Drugs and guns were taken in a raid on a Bridgeport apartment, police said.
The Stratford police Narcotics Vice and Intelligence Unit served a search warrant at 36 Louisiana Avenue in Bridgeport on November 7, as part of an investigation into drug activity in Stratford.
Joel Nelson, 26, formerly of Stratford and Tamara Robles, 27, of Stratford were taken into custody after a cache of weapons including an assault rifle, three shotguns and two handguns were found in the bedroom of the couple's young child, Lt. Frank Eannotti said.
The weapons and a supply of ammunition were seized, and at least one of the weapons was determined to be stolen, the police spokesman said.
Also seized were two safes containing 17 grams of cocaine, more than 100 prescription narcotics pills, including oxycodone, Eannotti said, along with nearly 300 bundles of heroin with a street value of $59,000.
The safe also contained $4,900 dollars in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, he said.
Nelson is being held on a $50,000 bond on charges including sale of prescription medications, sale of narcotics and marijuana, possession of an assault weapon, improper storage of a firearm, theft and illegal transfer of a firearm, risk of injury to a minor and operating a drug factory.
Robles faces the same charges and violating the conditions of her release from a previous incarceration. She is being held on a $100,000 bond.
