I always defined drill music as the shyt the kids on the southside of Chicago were making from like 2010-2020. If they’re to believed the term drill is Chicago slang.
Everything else is like barely an offshoot, the shyt from NY is more of a rip of the UK stuff which was heavily influenced by UK grime(hence why the beats sound like that) and Chicago in terms of the subject matter
