I'ma leave you all with this article from 2017 and I want you to take a look at how NHT is identified and then ask yourself how effective those bot sites are in running up streams.

No form of cybersecurity is 100% impenetrable.

I know real people who have paid for bots in various ways to inflate their numbers, whether streams or social media presence.

This will be interesting because Drake isn’t just a cash cow for the record industry. He’s a cash cow for Live Nation and arenas in the US and Europe. Only 4-5 other artists can consistently sell out huge venues like Drake. Maybe he was touring so much recently to show his value to them. They’ll probably help keep Drake relevant.
What are these huge venues you’re talking about that only Drake can sell out? Every tour he’s done has been arenas and there are a ton of acts who consistently sell them out. He’s never done a stadium tour and even then there’s far more than 4-5 acts that sell out stadiums. I swear people just type anything.

Close, but not quite comparable. MJ wasn’t publicly engaged in a rap feud. :mjlol:

Drake lost the same way, many other past rappers have lost. They release a terrible response to a monster diss track and the public does what it does. Unless every blogger, reviewer, internet fan, TikTok, China, real life fans, etc were in cahoots with UMG to sully drakes public image, than this is an apples to orange comparison. Drake and his fans were flexing his standing within the industry all the way up until NLU dropped. The first week after Push-ups was released, it was literally hip hop media, Drake Stans, old head rappers, etc “ooing and ahhing” about drakes “50/50 Splits” bar against kendrick. How kendrick got hoed by Top, relative to Drakes contract and his standing in the industry. Then it shifted to JayZ and Roc Nation trying to take him down and being an enemy to the Universal/YoungMoney/Baby/Slim and that collective. But the whole time, it was universal trying to screw him over via “convincing the public” that Drake lost and causing him financial distress to lower his value? Why couldn’t the boy bounce back from Circadian Rhythm? Who the hell was saying The Heart Part 6 ate kendrick up? How could this not be sour grapes when ppls reactions to all tracks put out between the two artist were organic reactions? Drake was supposed to be Teflon. Michael wasn’t cosplaying as a rapper, and bravado and talking cash shyt was never part of his repertoire as an artist. Again, Drake never had to respond. He wasn’t contractually obligated to respond to kendrick. :mjlol:
The last sentence is potent.

I'm looking at the angles that people are using to defend this petition and they are heavy reaches.

1. No one is truly asking themselves why would UMG allegedly undermine their cash cow? Contrary to people on Twitter, he isn't done with his deal, so it doesn't work as a negotiating tactic for UMG. This is the guy the same people have claimed has been keeping the industry above water for a decade.

2. Admitting UMG helped his career with streams may help his legal case but it shatters his legacy and future earning potential. He don't all of sudden care about the state of the industry and artist treatment - so all them accolades and records don't mean anything.

3. Nobody is bigger than the program - from this day forward, the music industry will do everything it can to throw water on any spark he may have simply because he could cost them business in exposing the practices they use for ALL artist.

4. What's going to be left of his fanbase outside of the gaggle of coli and twitter stans when this is all said and done? This isn't how rap/hip-hop is supposed to move and it fa sh*t sho ain't how the culture moves.

This not how you get out of your deal champ with all them people in your pockets.
Maybe…just maybe…Drake is costing them too much money and also is now a competitor due to his stake in Gamma? :sas1:

Drake isn’t in a slave deal. He doesn’t have these mythical quotas to reach. He’s paid out guarantees regardless. The industry, especially Universal, is bleeding money. It makes all the sense in the world to try and take Drake out the game by any means to save money and eat off someone who costs them less (Kendrick).

This is billionaire beef :hubie:

I don't dispute this and if you check the article a tech site itself determined 20-40% of the traffic they saw was NHT but they take additional measures to get it to that 5%.

Yes, you know people who've paid for bots and there are plenty of sites and digital snake oil pushers who sell people on the idea of "buying" streams - what I'm trying to get you all to understand is those bots and services don't net the advertised/paid for quantity of streams because they ultimately fail the "uniqueness" check.

How many artists do you think can tour and sell out 20K+ arenas consistently? I’m speaking to the number of venues and the frequency. Very very few artists can do that. Case in point is Future and Metro. Yeah they can sell out arenas in big cities like NY, LA and ATL. But they can’t sell out arenas all over the country and overseas. They were struggling to sell tickets after all the attention they got from the battle.

So the crux is that he’s mad UMG whitelisted the song for YouTube. We talked about it at the time: they removed copywrites so content creators could make money reacting to the song, hence the explosion of videos.

That’s just being smart lmao. Drake should have done it too. But he prob can’t because of the slave deal he’s stuck in hahaha.
