I said this yesterday. Yet we’re supposed to believe the albums on his new deal (plus the tours) have magically hit 500mil+ in a couple years.

He’s mad he’s stuck in a bad deal and is trying to get out by any means. That’s all this is about. Go look at Prince’s 1992 deal if you want an example of how past album success can be used as a weapon by labels with an artist who isn’t selling as much as he used to. Prince couldn’t replicate his mid/late 80s success by 1992. Drake clearly can’t replicate his Scorpion/Views era success. And just like Prince he tricked himself into picking the big headline number out of ego.

This is really an angle that got me thinking about the home of hip-hop (NY) and it made me lowkey sad breh.

I understand standing on business, I understand the trynna be buddies with the hip-hop cash-cow...that I understand.

What I will never understand, is when Drake came at Kendrick NY MC's/DJ's didn't automatically stand with the obviously superior (and American!) rapper.
Just how much hate does NY have for the west coast that they willing to sacrifice their pillar on this hip-hop thing? And why? Ain't PAC die first and Biggie later? Shouldn't it be the other way around (the West Coast hating on NY excessively)?

I was 14/15 when I first heard about the history of Hip-Hop, to me it was a given that the tallest gatekeepers and preservers of the artform would be the NYorkers, even if Atlanta/Cali'n'em started popping more in terms of sound/fame eventually.

But it ain't go like that at all. I just find it weird.
